xXxplosive...I'm not picking on you 'bro, but our military carries FMJ because they can't carry hollow points, (Geneva Convention).

BTY...I carry Rem GS 230 gr in my XD .45 Compact

I usually carry Golden Sabers mainly because they are designed to feed like FMJ. I want to try some of the EFMJ by Federal, but can't find any anywhere. Currently I am packing some WWB JHP, because I ran out of Golden Sabers and can't find any of them anywhere either.

If that was the criteria, then we would be eating MRE's and shooting 9mm

I like high quailty, reliable, controlable and accurate bullets.

For me, they are the best.

Try these

All previous advice is on the money. Try a few different loads and see what works. Don't know if they're still available, but CCI Lawmen 200 gr."Flying Ashtrays"HP's worked well in my Colt Officer's Model. Note: My Colt has been polished and throated among other things..but round worked well. When you see the cavity in this bullet, you'll know why they call it the "Flying Ashtray". Good Luck!

The winchester ranger SXT are good...but I agree with Retsupt99, go with the Gold Dots, probably in 165 Grain.

Any good quality 230 grain JHP should do. I stick with 230 grain ammo, regardless of barrel length. Even if the 230 grain JHP doesn't expand, it WILL penetrate sufficiently to hit the vitals.

I typically carry a 230 JHP, but wouldn't hesitate to use FMJ. The 230 gr. FMJ load is the only FMJ load approved by my former LE agency.
