Since I don't have much experience shooting people, and don't know many people who do, I tend to follow the lead of knowledgeable and reputable trainers.
Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch and Dave Spaulding both approve of the use of ball ammo in .45 ACP. It is not over-penetrative like 9mm ball and is a proven man stopper. Clint also endorses CorBon DPX, and even sells it under his own label. I've never seen a bad review of DPX in any caliber, and it has versions engineered for use in short barreled guns. So, I carry DPX in my PT145 and my Kel-Tec P3AT but would not feel like my PT145 was inadequate if I had to load it with ball. |
