Lower, lately? I don't see it, yet. I do see a little better stocking on the shelves, but not much change in prices.

DoubleTap JHP 9mm (mail order) is still $350/500, which is twice what it was in early 2007.

Local 9mm boxes of 50 still exceed $30/box, generally, if they're in stock at all. That's a bit less than quadruple what it was in ~1998, about double that of 2yrs ago.

GunBroker.com occasionally has 500rd or 1000rd lots of 9mm for closer to $20/50, but not often. That's still almost twice what it was 18mos ago.

Not really. Availability has become hit or miss some places for X or Y ammo, but nothing consistent IMO.

It doesn't matter if the price is going down, because there is no supply if Wally's is any indication of supply.

WalMart's inventory is probably as good a barometer as any other single indicator, I suppose. WM stores are everywhere, they generally all sell basic ammo, and they generally all have a number of boxes in stock at decent prices, if supply is good.

I bought ammo at bass pro shop on Friday and the prices were reasonable, and they had a lot of most calibers, but mostly winchester or remington.

Bass Pro is the only store I shop for ammo. The guys call me when they get in a shipment and I tell them to set a case in the back with my name on it.

I just run by and pick it up. How sweet is that?

I don't even go to W.M. anymore.

You got hosed at the store earlier. 9mm should be about 20 cents a round.

Ammo prices at Wal Mart haven't changed since the first of the year. That's what I'm used to, and that's where I keep going.

Good things come to those who wait. Trick of the trade? Call ahead first...that way you'll save money on gas as well.
