I use shorts in a rifle - you can't hear the discharge, just the zip of the bullet going down range.

RWS subsonic is pretty quite, but probably louder than CB caps. They have cycled everything I have tried them in.

The quietest I have seen were BB caps--even less noise than the CB caps. Less power too.
You might want to check your local ordnances, but here in my county you can shoot on your own property, as long as you live outside the city. |

John. Money is a bit tight right now but otherwise the pellet gun would be a great idea.
John I hear You. I got the gamo, sometimes they go on sale at Cabela's. There is a lot of other types out there as well. |

The CB is french for something, I don't remember what. It's a .22 short case with a VERY small power charge. In a rifle, the report is like a loud hand-clap. They work best in revolvers and bolt actions. They will NOT cycle an autoloader action.

+1
the Aguila piston fire is as quiet as you get and they aren't too bad for accuracy out of a Buckmark actually and no they won't cycle the action

CB stands for "conical breech" cap.
If you shoot more than a few of these, give your chamber a good brushing to prevent a ring of debris from forming in the part of the chamber normally occupied by a standard-length case. |

The Aguila Colibri don't have the energy for pest control at 25 yards from a handgun. CB shorts or longs are the way to go. At least around here Wal Mart has them in stock, best luck in your area. The Aguila SSS probably won't stabilize in you pistol and aren't that much quieter than a regular load. For sure not hearing-safe.
I know money is tight, but my rule is kind of like if I have an extra $200 bucks I'd rather spend it on the tax for a suppressor than a fancy air gun. But that's just me and my new plan to suppress every gun I own because it's so much fun. Last edited by Superhouse 15; August 1st, 2009 at 04:49 PM.. |

Example: Anyone shot Aguila 60 gr. SSS with a can? - TheFiringLine Forums ...and straight from the manual in my Gemtech Outback II. They even bolded this part in the manual: Quote:
edit: I have taken squirrels at 15yrds+ with my P22(WHICH IS A REALLY SHORT BARREL) using the CCI CB Longs and cranial shots at that. They do have the oomph to get the job done.

Aguila Super Colibri
Aguila Super Colibri fits your needs best.
They are the quietest round out there. Not as quiet out of a handgun as out of a rifle, but quieter than anything else. Less noise than a firecracker out of my Charter .22. Out of my NEF Sportster, the only noise is the firing pin hitting the rim and the bullet hitting the target. Virtually no report. And they're cheap, too. I can tell you HOW I know (by testing) but I will not WHY I know ;)
