Is a good column on actual shootings and the effectiveness of the bullets used.

If I was going to run a non +P bullet, I’d run Hydro Shok 124 gr. or 147 gr. or Cor Bon 115 gr.

AS others of have said, make sure you shoot a bunch and see what cycles in your weapon flawlessly… and when you do find a round you like, by several boxes and shot it at least 100 times though your pistol before you consider it safe for use.

I use 147 gr (non +p) Golden Sabres in both my HD (P95) and carry (G26) guns. Both guns eat them with gusto and I like the heavy bullets in 9mm, especially the Rem GS. Bad guy won't know it's not a 45.

I like Cor-Bon DPX 115gr +p and Federal HST 147gr +p.

Both are reliable from my weapons and accurate for me. That's a key thing that is forgotten, does your gun shoot them accurately.

Federal HST's look to be the best thing out right now. Absolutely wicked looking.

Bullet results after firing

I have no personal experience with 147's.
115, 124, and even 127 grains all work.

I've never been a fan of the 147 Grain Bullet, and remember the first time it came out. No, thank you.

rmil: Use the Hornandy Critical Defense Amm. These have characteristics of hollow points but they are not classified as hollow points. Hence legal in NJ. The calibers they come in are 38 special 357, 380, and 9mm.
