I carry the Federal 165g HST's in my G27. At work I'm issued Gold Dot's.

Hey, you're carrying a Glock in 40 cal. That you've already got right!

YouTube - AT1 - .45 ACP - Magtech Guardian Gold 230 Gr +P JHP

Found this guy on Youtube that does a lot of different ammo testing. This will let you see the comparison of various types of defensive ammo.

Out of my old 27, all the 180s I tested averaged between 940 and 1,030. Even WWB and UMC. That's in the ballpark for most 4+" barrels with standard rifling. They expanded just fine, too. I also found recoil to be a bit milder with 180s over hotter 155s. I like the silvertips as well until the price of them skyrocketed.

I broke my G27 in with several hundred rounds of the Winchester and Federal 180gr FMJ's from Wal-Mart. For some reason .40 isn't as popular in this area so those are usually in stock. I then moved to the Remington UMC 180gr JHP's.

I now currently carry Winchester 165gr PDX1 bonded JHP and they have been very accurate if a little punchy. I picked up some 180gr of the same tonight that I will shoot this weekend to see which I like better. I want some Speer Gold Dots but almost nobody carries them here and the ones that do just never have them. I will probably have to order them online.

+1 on the Winchester 165gr PDX1

also thank you Ring for the excellent pics! That really shows the full expansion, pretty impressive.
