135gr Speer Gold Dot, Short Barrel - .38 Spl.
My understanding is that a .357 Mag out of a snubby at best has the same performance as a 9mm. I find the 9mm much more manageable recoil-wise when wanting that kind of energy. |

I have a Ruger GP100 with the 2-inch+ barrel and rounded concealment grip. Not a true "snubby," but my carry round is 125-grain hollowpoints.

135 Gold Dots 38+p
I would also carry 125 Sabers if I could find any.

+1 very well thought out and engineered round. I carry GDHP in all my carry guns.

Most often I carry the Federal 125 grain ammo, but occasionally I'll carry the Federal Nyclad .38 spl rounds that I always carry in my .38 snubbie.

I carry the same load in all my .357 Magnums for defensive purposes.
Black Hills 125 Grain JHP or Remington 125 Grain SJHP. If I had a J-Frame .357 Magnum I'd consider a second load, as the recoil is a bit much in that platform/load, but the guns I have aren't J-Frames and I can handle the recoil. They don't call it the "Lightning Bolt Round" for nothing. Biker

135gr, Speer Gold Dots in .38
Shoot that .357 load at night from a snubbie and see if you still have your night vision after that flash. I tried it and stayed with the .38 load. Ballistics are great and I've got better 2nd shot follow up. |
