Doubletap Montana Gold

This round acts like FMJ I do not think I would use it

You must hit your intented target with every round you fire, thus neutralizing the threat and reducing your liability.

Praying and spraying the landscape does not solve your immediate problem and puts innocent people at risk.

Montanagold doesn't, and never has, advertised their JHP bullets as defense loads. I don't know why anyone would try to use them as such. They're geared more towards competition shooting, and just target shooting in general. They offer the JHPs partially because of ballistics (more weight towards the rear makes it more stable) and partially because the JHP design doesn't leave the lead at the base of the bullet exposed -- which would create more smoke and lead fouling.

Good bullets for their intended purpose though, I use a lot of them.

I love them for what they are. Uniform, clean and designed to function well in the pistols I have.

My reloads with Montana Gold are made to be the same as the factory loads I use for SD in both point of impact and recoil. I can practice with them all day long without breaking the bank.

For SD, I carry factory loads, for practice I use Montana Gold.

The DoubleTap JHP w/ Speer Gold Dot bullet is extremely capable as a defensive round, stacking up well in comparison tests of penetration and expansion against some of the best loads that exist. It's got the venerable Speer Gold Dot JHP bullet, which is used in a large percentage of police/sheriff departments nationwide. Though, Montanagold is something else entirely, yes.
