I was clear on what you stated.

Hey, I just posted 12k posts!

I really don't want to quote myself again. Please re-read the post.

And my question remains;

The answer is this; you pull the bullet and disect. I doubt that any busy range is going to take the time to do that.

So, can we move on to the other reasons now this one has finally been beat to death?

I think what BaserRonin was saying is if a range wanted to outlaw all types of steel (core or jacket) they could use a magnet, because it will pick up either one.

I don’t think he was saying they could use a magnet to exclude core, but allow jacketed only.

I think Sixto thought he said they could use a magnet to differentiate between the two.

I was, but only because of the other reasons surplus ammo being banned from ranges are being ignored. That is my entire point. Thanks for getting it.

I wouldn't say they were being ignored. They have been discussed.

But the banning of Wolf for its alleged steel core was the original topic of this thread, and as such, deserved a thorough discussion.

Please proceed. I don’t know if I’ll have anything to add, as I’m not quite as passionate about the other issues, but I would be interested in reading anything else there is to say about those other issues.

Since we are talking about Wolf ammo, which I have shot and my range doesn't care, I have noticed that some of the spent cases that we ejected were split. FWIW, I have a Taurus PT145 circa 2000. Is this a non issue or? Also, I am curious why this may be happening.

I doubt it has anything to do with the gun, but the steel case that Wolf uses. I dont think its anything to be concearned about. My Glock did the same thing when I'd shoot Wolf on occasion.

I had a .40 silver bear case split in my SIG. I didn't even notice until I picked the case up.

My range bans Wolf but allows aluminum. The employees tell me it's not because of sorting, they aren't that busy and don't mind doing it. They said it's because Wolf seems to have problems similar to the post above...splits, ejectors getting mangled, etc. They don't think it's safe. For myself, I couldn't say one way or another as I've never tried any.
