Good low recoil 9mm defense round

I freely admit that ballistics and ammo is not my strong suit. I am going to be changing my glock 19 (carrying 124g Federal Hydra Shocks) out for a Taurus 709 as soon as I can get my hands on one. The 19 is just to clunky for me to conceal comfortably. I was hoping I could get a few reccomendations for low recoil 9mm defense ammo for the taurus slim when I get my hands on it.

Thanks!

You must know that at least one .45 guy is going to make a crack about *all* 9mm ammo being low-recoil, right?

Google is such a good tool...I started to bust your chops since I carry either a .40 or .45, but decided to be nice

Look at these options:

Federal Premium Personal Defense Low Recoil Ammunition 9mm Luger 135 Grain Hydra-Shok Jacketed Hollow Point Box of 20 - MidwayUSA

Federal Premium Personal Defense Low Recoil Ammunition 9mm Luger 105 Grain Expanding Full Metal Jacket Box of 20 - MidwayUSA

Honestly I did not know they actually made "low recoil" 9mm until I searched for it.

The low recoil stuff uses the old hydrashock bullet which is prone to failures and low expansion. I don't think any good defense round using a modern bullet design will be low recoil. If you're skiddish just stay away from the +p loadings. Try the 147gr Gold Dot, if you can find HST 147gr (non +p) that'd be super, or the Federal Tactical Bonded ammo. Remington Golden Saber 147gr is a good round as well. Winchester Ranger-T or the bonded 147gr works well also. Gold Dots or Golden Saber are probably the easiest to find around.

Basically I'm naming the top 9mm defense ammo in non +p

Gunbroker has a pretty good number of listings for these various choices.

Would you keep the Glock? If you can't conceal your G19 well, that's one thing, but relating that and your search for a low recoil 9mm has me pondering why you would be changing two things at the same time. I have always been under the impression to change things one at a time, and then you'll know what changes need to be made after research. With what you've portrayed here, I would say stick with your Personal Defensive round and get a heavier pistol to mitigate the felt recoil. Something like an all steel 1911 model 9mm, or a SIG compact or something. In my opinion, if you're looking at the Taurus specified, AND looking to a lighter recoiling 9mm PD round, your trying to kill two birds with one stone when they are three feet apart. You may be diving into something that will only lead to disappointment again. I wish you well in anything you do for your self defense purposes, and with that, a bit of good luck.
