Thumbs up Enemies Foreign And Domestic

This is not a book review, per se. There is a good review of this futuristic novel by Matthew Bracken in the April 05 issue of Concealed Carry Magazine. (BTW, if you're a CWP holder and you haven't subscribed to this magazine, you're missing out).

So, how many of you have read this novel & what did you think? I enjoyed it, although I think Unintended Consequences by John Ross is better, but it's still a good read. It's probably not very high on the BATF popularity list, tho. I only have two nit-picking complaints. The hero/heroine sub-plot is entirely predictable and the author constantly has to tell us how they are dressed. The firearms stuff is generally believable, I think.

I'm looking forward to the sequel, which according to the review is forthcoming.

EFAD is a great book - but I agree not quite up there compared with UC. That is not a criticism for Matt, I think he did a great job - maybe just that UC was a shade more ''thrilling''.

I am tho well pleased to see any books of this sort - very ''mind expanding''!

I liked EFAD a lot too! I met Matt at the 2005 SHOT Show. Nice guy. Have you guys read Molon Labe by Boston T. Party? Now there is a good book!

Sounds like another to look out for Tim - have heard of it but not read (yet!).

Seems like most people forget the "and domestic" part!

Thumbs up Efad

Matt's a friend of mine and a fellow FREEPER. EFAD is part one of a trilogy. Next book should be out by the spring, IIRC. Just as big, too. I bought three copies of EFAD. One to keep and underline, one to loan and another to "lose" as it is inevitable that somebody will forget to return a loaner or it'll get lost/destroyed/etc.

Matt is a Beirut era SEAL. Some of my buddies know him in the SpecOps community. They're reading his stuff, too.

I have always been intreged by the "and domestic" part of the oath as well. Posie Comitis states that the military cannot be used against the citizenry, and if that is the case what is the point of the "and domestic" part of the oath in there for?

It can be done, but I suspect only against a "formalized group"....say the NAACP or the AFL-CIO.....hasn't ever happened...typically a National Guard would be called out first....a la Kent State or Birmingham!

Should clarify this a bit....oath is to protect the "Constitution" against all enemies foreign and domestic.....I suppose if Cub Scout Troop 42 was to try to overthrow the Government and instate a new Constitution, we'd have to break out the Abrams, Patriot Missile Batteries, the SOF, and take those bruits head on!
