New TV Show: The Best Defense (Merged X 2) - Page 3

Here is a Podcast that Michael Bane put out a little over a week ago that covers our first few days of taping and the main theme of the show.

As some of you know, I worry a lot about "Why" we do things, not just "What" to do.... and our courses reflect it. The Best Defense will also be approaching training issues from this perspective.

As a further update, we just taped at Blackwater for 2 days. I haven't been back to BW since 01 or 02... lots of changes. It is a sprawling facility that dwarfs any other privately owned training facility I've ever seen in every way. They were great hosts and let us have the run of a few training areas to get what we needed.

Highlights of this trip included Mike Janich and I addressing counter Car Jacking an Road Rage situations and some unarmed and armed defense against a typical close quarters knife attack.

Update:

We're at the new Swanson Tactical Training Facility in Utah this week. We've been doing a lot of great stuff in the scenario areas (women's assault prevention, convenience store armed robbery, de-escalation of a street confrontation). The scenarios are all being done with multiple versions (bad-good-better is usually the process) with commentary and teaching points from Janich and I.

I worked with Janich in the DT room here for quite awhile on Monday as he taught a variety of unarmed and improvised defensive techniques.

We also did a few more things on the live range and Bane and I went through segments on choosing a defensive gun and carry method(s).

The show is really coming together well. The first episodes will be edited and delivered to the network by mid-December.
