That is a great idea. My wife and I both took the carry and conceal class.

Go here:

Armor of New Hampshire: Author: Massad Ayoob - Books

Here is the main page:
Massad ayoob, lethal force institute, ammunition sales, handgun ammunition, tactical gear

I also highly recommend his book "The Truth About Self Protection".

It was the first book of his I read and it is still great.

I loan the book to each of my students and require that they read it before signing them off; yep, it is not easy to get it back. His emphasis on "Combat mindset" is outstanding.

For me, Ayoobs teach too much when not to shoot; such a conditioning may cost you a second or two in reaction time which may translate into an eternity.
I have been planning to post my detailed thoughts on this subject; hopefully, as things around here slow down a bit, I'll get to it soon.
I have read Jeff Cooper's book and it is good, but I think Ayoob is still the "Gold Standard" of firearms instruction and facts of self protection.

I believe that being a armed citizen you need to not only know when to use lethal force, but when NOT to use lethal force.

What good is going though a shooting solution and being sent to prison for 20 years because you shot when you shouldn't have.

There has to be a balance....and I believe that Ayoob gives that.

I hold Jeff Cooper to Sainthood. That said, Mas should be required reading. I also recommend Gabe Suarez and Chuck Taylor.
I also read three publications religiously, Combat Handguns, SWAT, and American Handgunner. (I read everything else I can also) but never miss these three.
