In the Gravest Extreme

Hey, I just finished Mr. Ayoob's book. It was awesome. However, does anyone know of a similar work that is more recent?

He authored another book The Truth About Self Protection. You might check it out--it is more comprehensive.

Amazon.com: The Truth About Self Protection: Massad Ayoob: Books

The Truth About Self Protection, Massad Ayoob

The Truth About Self Protection

Most likely available many other places, too.

The Holy Bible has different versions, but what was written then is as appropriate today as it was then.

I mention the Holy Bible because many, myself included, consider this book to be the bible of sorts in regards to carrying a handgun for self defense. It's like a revolver compared to a Glock. The revolver worked 100 years ago, and will still work today.

"In the Gravest Extreme" is a timeless classic.

I agree, but he mentioned some situations that had never been tested in court at the time and I was wondering if they had since.

The best way to get more information from Ayoob is take his LFI-1 class. Several of us around here have, so if you had questions about specific situations like that, go ahead and ask; we might be able to help you out.

I'm in Alabama and unfotunately there is not a course this year near me. Also, on the site you linked there is not cost for the LFI-1 class. Do you know what the cost is for and ordinary citizen like me?

Thanks,
MT

The entire LFI-1 class is usually $800. You can take Judicious Use Of Deadly Force--the classroom part only--usually for $400. Check LFI's site or call Dot--she can help you find a close one!

To my knowledge there is no update for ITGE.

Since Mas livesin Florida there is usually a class there. I just attended the LFI II class in WA and by booking well ahead my plane flight from AZ was cheaper than driving to Prescott and back countin wear and tear. While at LFI you won't spend a bunch of entertainment money because you will have nightlyhomework and he means it. This is easilly one of the most intense learning sessions in my life, and I have two Masters Degrees.

Next, look into the Legal Defense Network, LLC that Marty Hays and Mas are part of.

There are many good books out there. Some I've read and some I have not.

Paladin Press has a good selection.

Look for Jeff Cooper, John Farnam, Evan Marshall, Dave Spaulding, Ed Lovette and others.
