Saint77's problems sound nearly identical to mine and I bought my Kimber Pro Carry II new.

It never had a problem with the first round from a magazine, but had all sorts of problems loading subsequent rounds.

I went through the break-in period and even replaced the recoil spring. I had the same problem no matter what type of magazine I used (regular Kimber, KimPro Tac, McCormick and Wilson).

Eventually, I sent it to Kimber and they wound up polishing the ramp and replacing the extractor. They sent it back with several new magazines and springs to compensate for what I spent on postage. I have not had a problem since.

I own 3 Kimbers, a SS Ultra Carry, an Ultra CDP and a Grand Raptor, and they have all been perfect out of the box. I absolutely love them.

I have a Kimber Ultra CDPII.

Can't say I've ever had a problem with it.

It FTF'd a coupla times before the 500rd mark. It still will tend to FTF with Taurus Solid Copper Hollow points. I reckon it will behave the same with the Corbon DPX's since they use the same bullet.
It hasn't FTF'd in recent memory with Federal HST 230gr +p although I have stopped carrying those rounds as they really punish my hands. IMO, you really can feel the difference between standard pressure and +P in that gun.

The other thing i'd point out is if you plan on carrying it with either a smart carry or thunderwear or any holster like those, that beaver tail can really dig into ya.

I've gotten used to it and it's quite comfortable now but once in a while if you sit down awkwardly, it will let you know it's there.

Not that I would give up the gun for any reason b/c I really really love it, but knowing what I know now, given my preferred carrying method, I would have chosen a Kahr MK40. So I'm saving my pennies.

Good luck to ya.

My old Stainless II with external extractor has been flawless from day one. My newer Pro CDP II will not function for crap with Wilson mags but runs flawlessly with Kimber mags, go figure

Fair enough, and its possible about the previous owner. I've no idea what they did with it. Though, there is no markes denoting anyone might have tinkered with it mechanically(doesnt mean they didnt)

The guy at Kimber who did the warranty work seemed to think it had 2 years of use on it. The slide was a bit worn on the outside, as in holster wear, especially on the edges. and the finish was a lot lighter then the new slide. however, on the inside, the ramp, the barrel, etc, had what looked like about 600 rounds of wear on it, if that. Im thinking the previous owner holstered it quite often, yet didn't fire it that much, and probably was frustrated with it, and traded it in.

Thats my semi educated guess, anyway.

I have the Custom Target, never a problem and very accurate.

I bought it when they first came out and have parted with many others since but my Kimber is a keeper.

kimber

I have 2 early Series I Kimber Custom Classic's that are amazing, never a problem with either one. I have also heard that the newer Kimber's are not quite as good.

I have 2 Kimber Pros, a Pro Carry with the aluminum frame and a TLE with the steel frame. Both have been good guns, with minor issues. Both guns had an issue with FTRTB, so after some research I discovered that Kimber uses an underpowered recoil spring (22lbs I think) and I replaced it with the Wolf XP spring specifically made for the 4" bbls (24lbs). No more return to battery failures. My TLE had an extractor issue that sent brass into my face and marred the slide a bit, but that got sent back to Kimber and was fixed at no charge to me.

I have not had any other issues in 2500(pro aluminum frm)-1200 (TLE) rounds . I use Wilson 47D mags, and both get a steady diet of 230gr ball or 230gr Federal Hydrashocks. I haven't tried anything lighter. I've been pretty happy with the performance and I have used both hard in classes where I have shot 600 rounds in a single day without any tinkering or additional lubing.
