I really like the look of that.

I think I'd like to do the same thing to my G23.

luvmyglock, check your PM inbox. I sent you one.

No, the treatment that Glock puts on their pistols is in the actual metal. I have seen barrels polished in this exact matter after being stuck in a snow bank for a week. No rust. I don't abuse my guns, so that's good enough for me!

What is the process you used with the dremel?

The barrel thing looks promising. Nice work on all.

I've seen this one, and will probably try it on one of mine.

Excellent work. I would probably practice on a blank of steel before attempting to work on any firearm.

Too many horror stories of removing too much metal on critical firearm parts!

So now I'm wanting to do my G27 really bad. Two days work, and I'll be off again for a couple. Thanks for the idea! My Dremel is battery powered...may take more than a couple hours with recharge time. I've got some rifle brass to trim in the meantime.

Nice work! I polished the barrel on my P3AT with jewelers rouge and a 12" sewn linen buffing wheel. Good stuff! I haven't had a single problem with rust, pitting, or discoloration since I did it. I also used the same wheel/rouge to buff out some rust spots on the slide. It took off some of the bluing, but the rouge has effectively sealed the pores on the metal. I suppose I could strip it all and re-blue it... but I don't care, it's a pocket gun.

I have heard some horror stories as well, but I don't necessarily understand them. Some aftermarket barrels have been known to be up to .01 smaller than stock!!! If you remove .01 of metal while POLISHING, you shouldn't be touching a firearm with anything abrasive, ever, for fear of turning the whole gun into a pile of shavings!
