Oh well...

My first handgun purchase, the LCP, and it gets recalled 4 days later. Oh well, I don't have my permit yet so it doesn't really matter that much.

Unfortunately, I fear your trust will end up being misplaced. From what I have read, turnaround on LCP's returned for repair has been pretty slow, and with the sheer volume of this recall, I doubt the fixes will be quick. Time will tell, of course.

I, too, will be sending my LCP back because of the recall. This gives me time, however, for A Holster Company to get my pocket holster(s) made and on hand hopefully by the time it's returned.

Going down my check-list, I've got the .380 ACP ammo I determined I would be carrying and I've got the Crimson Trace laser gizmo. Yep, it's all coming together and, in the meantime, I promise you I WON'T have to go UNARMED for a single minute!

We should start a poll of sorts, with members letting us know

1) When they notified Ruger
2) When they get the box
3) When they get it back

I notified Ruger on 10/31. We'll see how long it takes.

I'm in there too and I'm confident Ruger will do it right. I registered on line and got a phone call back from Ruger confirming my registration.

I have an LCP. I have confidence in it. Ruger customer service is exemplary. When I asked for the updated hold-back, they sent it to me at no charge. The LCP was the first gun I ever worked on, but I was able to make the change without much difficulty even though it is taken apart considerably to make the exchange.

The fact that they initiated a recall when it is not clear that they were required to do so increases my admiration for the company.

With the SR9 recall and then this one, you have to wonder how much longer Ruger will be in business. This must be costing them and arm and a leg... not to mention the future lack of trust from the public. Two new firearms came out in the past year and both have recalls issued on them... not a good percentage there.

thats what im thinking. although I havn't had any problems with the lcp it makes me not trust the company to much. we'll see how they take care of this.. I sent them an email a couple days ago, havn't heard anything since. Thinking about finding a better holster and lugging the XD around.

Spoke with Ruger today, and they said that the UPS mailers are running about 3-3½ weeks into the future.

Yeah....... right..........
+1

If you don't keep one in the chamber all you have is an Ammunition Storage Device.
