I think my LCP is out the door. My FFL guy has a nice S&W Revolver he wants to trade me. Ruger has been taking too long on getting me my shipping container. I signed up for it on the day the recall was announced and still no box, even after 2 calls.

I think I will take the $225 trade value and apply it to that revolver.

Exclamation Ruger LCP Recall

One must wonder what the folks at Ruger are doing! This is an "instant replay" of the exact same issue with the SR-9.
To Ruger's credit they quickly announced the problem, retrofitted the SR-9's involved and even sent a magazine and a hat or T-shirt to each customer that had their guns repaired/upgraded.
Still, how could a company that has had to spend massive $'s to fix a problem repeat the same error on another weapon?

I have a SR-9 and am very happy with it, but will be extremely cautious about purchasing another Ruger product...

Well, it's now 11/30, and still no mailer...

Well, I sold my LCP and bought a much better mouse gun in a Kahr PM9, but Ruger is certainly not going to go out of business over the semi-auto pistol issues they have had recently. Ruger is a strong company and the semi-auto sales are certainly not what keeps them afloat. While overall sales are down around 8% from last year, rifle and revolver sales are as strong as ever.

From my review of the Ruger quarterly (July 2008) financial sheet I found that the recall of the SR9 is costing Ruger around 1.3 million per quarter. Ruger does around 160 million in sales per year. It certainly hurts with the LCP recall, but its not going to do them in either. They do need to fix these manufacturing related issues or they will face problems in the future as consumer confidence errodes and future sales of firearms suffers.

Here is some interesting financial data. It shows profits/earnings are down but they are still making a small profit (less than 1% profit margin) but hey its better than the auto companies!

I got my recall shipping materials from Ruger today. The enclosed letter says:

Quote:
Our goal is to retrofit your pitol within one week from the date we receive it. Considering shipping time to and from us, you should receive your retrofitted pistol in approximately 2 weeks.
If they meet this goal, I will be quite impressed at how relatively painless this recall will have been for me. In the meantime, my Kahr PM9 is filling the carry bill quite nicely.

Do you remember what day you initiated the claim? I'm still waiting after 5½ weeks.

If I am not mistaken, I first learned of the recall from a thread on another forum on November 2 and emailed Ruger that day. I got now acknowledgement of my email, so I called the hotline a week later, only to learn I was already on the list.

My box came today. I called the Ruger Recall Line and they emailed me the UPS label. Shipped it off today at 6PM. Let's see how long it takes to come back.

Got my shipping box yesterday, but it's impossible to get through to Ruger to get the shipping label. Left messages, but they never returned call. Tried today, but the line is either busy, or I get the answering machine again.

=======================
Update: Got through to a human, got the email label in 2 minutes, and it's off to Arizona. Will keep you all posted!
