Springfield EMP Price Check

Found a used EMP with 200 rounds through it...looks like it's in great condition (actually it looks brand new) ,owner said no problems so far and is very accurate for what it is. Is $800 a good price? My wife wants to get a new carry gun so I gave her a list of things she would possibly like (she's looking for something "small-ish")...most of the guns on the list were in the $300-$500 range (Kel-tec, Bersa, Walther, etc.)....the two she liked the most were the EMP and the R9 Couldn't find an R9 locally to try out though and the EMP seems to be a good deal but I thought I'd ask here.

Seems to be.
A quick search reveals prices around $1,100 - 1,200 for new.

980.00 retail is the lowest I've seen for a new one. 800.00 would be a good price for one with 200 rds down the pipe IMO.

Thanks all. Those were pretty much the same prices that I had seen...just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy Overall the gun looks new so I think I'll go for it. Even if we hate it (see how I threw that "we" in there when talking about my wife's gun! ) then we can sell it for not too much of a loss. Thanks again.

Just curious; what's the serial number? That would tell you if it's an early production piece or a later one.

The very early ones had some feeding issues, although they were all easily remedied with a quick trip back to Springfield.

By the way, $800 for a Like New EMP is a steal. Nice grab.

Why is the owner getting rid of it? I'd want to take it out and shoot it before buying it. $800. for a gun that isn't working reliably is no deal.

I have an emp and it is already beat up looking, lol. I carry it everywhere, and it has taken it's share of bumps and bruises. The gun has been ultra reliable, and accurate for a smaller framed, short slide pistol. It has fed everything I put through it.

The one knock on the gun I have is the ambi safety. It doesn't take a lot of pressure to disengage the safety while wearing it. It is one of my favorite carry guns, but I am going back to carrying my p7m8 until I get the ambi safety removed, and the safety tension adjusted.

The price you quoted is a decent price btw

Not sure but I can find out...actually I think I even have a picture of the gun that I could make the S/N out ...I'll take a look. I think he's had it since June of this year. Is there a certain range that I should look for?

He's trying to pay for a new gun and he doesn't carry...so this one doesn't really fit into his scheme of things and it's been collecting dust.
