I got mine in yesterday. Called them last week maybe Wed or Thurs so I assume that means they've started sending them out and others should be receiving their return labels as well.

I'm going to send it off today with my initials written with a sharpie inside the slide and a good coating of rust preventive since it'll be in the warehouse a while.

I called customer service and the guy I talked to said the last he heard was that they weren't even finished designing the replacement hammer block. He heard that about a week ago. So it sounds like it's going to be a while but the sooner I send it in, the further ahead I'll be in the backlog.

I wonder if they will polish up the feed ramp while it's there.

Stranger than strange...

I don't have a PPK or PPK/S, yet I received yesterday a UPS return mailer! Apparently, it was supposedly for someone up in NY (a private investigator no less, a little research on the net revealed) yet it was e-mailed to me. I have never owned a S&W so I have no idea how they got my e-mail. Now my tin hat is tingling and I'm wondering if this is some part of a Bloomberg scheme to tie me to illegal gun traffic, even though I've never bought or sold an S&W?!?

I know I am going to send a letter with mine to tell them to do that (to remedy the ever-so-often FTF) and replace the handgrips which were cracked after the first shot.

Got mine today, shipping off this afternoon.

If anyone wouldn't mind posting when theirs comes back so we can get an idea on how long it's taking, I know I'd appreciate it.

Well, they sent me a 2nd day air label, went to UPS, ALL handguns MUST go overnight, no exceptions, so the label is useless. On hold w/ S & W right now. UGH!

ETA: S&W has a 2nd day air waiver contract w/UPS, but UPS has failed to inform their customer service agents, the S&W agent told me they keep having this issue. I had to returm to UPS and have the agent call their contracts dept to verify that they do indeed have this waiver on contract with S&W. I am going to be emailing UPS tonight as this is poor service and lack of training. The UPS agent told me 2 previous folks had paid the approx $53 to send overnight when told it had to be overnight. I wasn't going to as it was a recall, but I wonder how many will pay without calling S&W.

For those who haven't sent their pistols off yet:

The easiest way to deal with this is to call UPS and schedule a pickup. When the truck driver shows up, you hand them the sealed package and tell them it is a firearm (you are required to do this but I'm not sure if there is any record of it). When I shipped mine the driver just said ok and put the box on the truck. Saves you a drive to the UPS center and the hassle of uninformed customer service reps.

Took about a month for me to get the label. I'd be real interested to hear when anyone gets their gun back, and how long the repair took.

S&W "customer service" is a bunch of recordings. Damn frustrating, but I DID get the label.
