My ppk/s came back today. 12 weeks excatly, 4/22-7/15. shipped to me via Fed Ex. It was very dirty and needed a good cleaning before going to the range. I shot 50 rounds of hornady critical defense. The only issue was a light primer strike on the first round in mag #3. That has never happened before. I hope this helps others who are still waiting get a better idea of their timeline.

They've had my PPK 10 days longer than yours and still nothing. I'm glad you got yours back, but they've now had mine over 3 months. This is only the second gun recall I've been involved in but this has to be one of the poorest handled recall/repair situations ever.Hoss

I sent my brand new PPK back in early February because it jammed almost every shot no matter what. They were going to polish the loading ramp and it was supposed to take 4 weeks. Then the recall came and I called every month or so and they always said the same thing- You will have it in 3 weeks. I gave up on it and went out and bought a sweet S & W J frame .38, and off course today my local gun shop called and said the PPK has came back. We will see how it shoots...... I still wish I had bought an older German model.

Received mine back today after almost 4 months. S&W replaced the decocker - I could have done that in 10 minutes, its not that difficult. They also polished the ramp. I plan to take it to the range tomorrow for testing. It was 100% reliable before they messed with it. I'll see how it functions tomorrow.
In short, I'm none too pleased with how S&W has handled this recall. |

returned PPK
A few things of noteworthy notice for those awaiting their S&W returns.
First I have a PPK 75th anniversary model that was returned for the repair; it returned with obvious wear marks to where the blueing was worn off or damaged along the lower reciever where the hammer is and looks bad now. Secondly they polished the ramp...(why?) it was fine before and now I am having feeding issues...it just loves to double feed on the second/third rounds. Not my idea of a carry weapon any more...had a german model PPK/S (1974) that had similar issues and was gone in a trade. now the model I really wanted is another hunk of junk...time to upgrade, any chance for a gov't cash for clunkers program for these? sent last week of March, returned useless on arrival July 15th. Thanks S&W |

Good observation on the rough marks. Mine is stainless, and I could swear the slide is not my original slide. On another relevant point - the polishing of the feed ramp. I have extensive gouging atop the chamber and rear barrel assembly where a casing shreded (split) and really did a number. I'm pretty sure it is related to the ramp work that was done. I got a nice letter from the VP of Marketing. He is very sorry. Yeah, so am I. |

Wow, I guess I'm keeping my PPK/S new in the box now, or until the rush fixing stops at S&W.
I got me a p238 that needs to be fixed too whats up with manufacturers now.

I had a brand new PPK/S and sent it back to them. They scratched and butched the gun all up. I raised h**l and now they are giving me a new one. Yes they must have changed something. I e mailed Walther in Germany, they never have that problem. I had a german ss PPK/S, like a fool I sold it. I am getting a new PPK/S now, but it is still the american c**p from S & W.
