My PPK was received at S&W on April 13th and came back today, August 5th. 3 1/2 months. I don't see any scuffs or scratches that weren't on the gun when I sent it in. I had sent it in without grip panels as I had a set of Hogue wood grips on it and it came back with a new set of black plastic grips. I may be making a range trip on Friday so if I do I'll check out function then.
I've got to say, I'm very disappointed in S&W's handling of this recall. The time to repair and return isn't something I would have expected from a company with S&W's reputation. Hoss

I know exactly what you are going through with S&W Hoss. I went through a similar ordeal back when I had numerous problems with the Walther PPK/s I USED to own. Very disappointed in the customer service of S&W and in their quality control.

I received my PPK back on Aug 5. They had it since Apr 13.
Went to the range today and fired four different types of ammo. I had no problems putting 100 rounds through it. Primer strikes were all plenty hard. I am not at all happy about the so called polishing of the ramp. That is a joke. They just ground away a lot of metal. It looks like a butcher job but it does work. To all wondering if their gun came back with the same slide, I know mine did not. Mine had a mark that did not disappear by itself. The new slide looks OK though. One other thing. I had to do some work on it to be able to insert a clip. I believe this will be the last S&W I will ever buy. Too bad they are taking the Walther name down with them. |

So glad I got an Interarms PPK/s. Love it! Bought it used in 1994 and never had a lick of trouble with it.

I called S&W again today to ask the status of the PPK recalls.....
Dude said that they had about 300-400 guns left and they would be finished very soon. He also said the mailing label they had sent me in Apr was no longer any good and that they were only good for 30 days. I told him as soon as I had a chance to get my new PPS9 to the range and make sure it was OK I would request another label. He said that would not be a problem. I am NOT however going to take one persons word for this and will call back several times before requesting a new label. I will also after reading here and other places send them a letter with the pistol...asking that they NOT polish the feed ramp. My pistol has worked perfectly for over 500 rounds and if it were not for a safety reason I would not even send it in. I was told months ago that they would be finishing 300-500 guns per week, so from what dude said today they should be finished very soon, that is why I am tending to not believe him and will call back. If what he said was true then Hoss and others who were waiting should have received theirs back by now?.....Just wondering and I did not read this entire thread again. I will post more when I do call back probably next week sometime. I have a feeling dude was feeding me BS about only a few left to do. We shall see...

Well, I'm sorely disappointed.
I turned 21 last year, and decided to exercise my rights and start carrying. I'm a pretty thin framed guy, so I thought the PPK would make for a decent carry weapon considering my size. I purchased the weapon, and began the process of acquiring my concealed carry permit. I had no problems with my PPK/S at the range, and was pretty excited when I received my permit. I immediately went to the local gun shop to pick out a good inside-pant holster. For whatever reason, I didn't take my own PPK/S with me, and I asked if I could use one of the shop's PPK's to test a holster. They indicated to me that they had none, as all of them had been recalled. A little Internet research later, and I found that my gun was among the many involved in this colossal cock-up. I applied for my packing label, and shipped my gun early to mid April... It is almost October, and I still do not have my piece back. Every time I call, they just tell me they're trying to get X number of guns done each day, and they'll try to get mine done ASAP. At this point, I'd rather have a refund so I can go buy something I can actually carry. I can't say I'll never buy Walther/S&W again, but I'll avoid it at all costs. |

I'm just glad I got an original Walther made in Germany.

Well I waited until Oct to send my PPK back... it left on Oct 13 and was returned on Oct 23!!!!
![]() My friend sent his in the day mine came back and his turn around time was only 8 days...! I am sure glad I waited. And also they have changed from using UPS to Fed-Ex....which for me was better as it is closer to my house and I go there regularly so they know me. No problems shipping or recieving it back. ![]() Best part is they DID NOT screw it up, no scratches or dings in the stainless and I have put a few hundred through it and it works just as well as it did before it left. I for one am quite pleased with the outcome but sure wasnt crazy about holding on to it while a recall was going on, even if it was working perfectly. I do feel for those who had to wait for so long and for those who got back a messed up weapon. I LOVE mine ![]()
