I like 1911's and Glocks. Your price will get you a brand new Glock that needs nothing. $500 will get you a cheap import 1911. I'd recommend a G19.

AZ ,

In my neck of the woods you can't buy a new Glock for under $535 before tax.

And for your info a RIA is not a cheap import 1911. It is a inexpensive 1911 that is made in the Phillipines and is of very good quality.

Evidently you have never owned or shot a RIA 1911or you would know this. I myself own to RIA 1911's and a Glock 26. What do you base your opinion on as I have based mine on having used and shot both.

I still own them to.

If you are considering a 1911 you can't go wrong with the RIA, even if you did find a problem there customer service is better than any other in the industry.

For $500, I'd buy a G23. You might need to put a little extra towards it, but it's worth it.

I just love spending other people's money!!

Glock 19... if you really need something smaller go with the Glock 26... both are great weapons, very reliable, and very accurate guns... I like carrying either gun, but in the summer carry the Glock 26 more.

+1 on Glock 19, awesome gun, (G26 if you really need to go small). The only thing I would add to the Glock is a houge Handall rubber grip for $15US.

Its already a comfortable gun to shoot, but the Houge Handall in my opnion makes it perfect.

Glocks are simple to use, easy to clean, and just plain work.

re:

Two choices ....

XD 9sc / XD 40sc

or

Glock 19 / Glock 23

Depending if you favor the 9 or 40. The XD subcompact is hard to beat when you use the small mag. If you want something slightly bigger the G19/23 is hard to beat.
