Tru Glo
I'll second getting Tru Glo nights sights. They glow at night & work well during daylight hours as well. My G26 has a set of these. It's money well spent!

Nights sights never really impressed me much so I don't waste the money on them. I bought a used Glock that had Tru Glo TFO sights on it and they were just fine. It's all personal preference as they are all good night sights.
Personally I would invest in a couple of good flashlights. Ever look through your sights while using a flashlight in low light? The stock sights stick out like a sore thumb. Actually as I get older, an XS big dot on the front seems appealing. Don't see a need for a rear night sight. |

I voted for the TruGlo's. They're on my G27 and work really well.
Those Meprolight sights are nice too, and cost about $30- less than the TruGlo's. I've been thinking about opting for those to replace the factory sights on my G23. |

Thanks for the input guys and gals. Keep it coming! I think ive got it narrowed down to 3. Big dot, TFO's, or the trijicon. The trijicon seem like an old proven stanard. The TFO are really bright day or night. Although i have read a few posts about them breaking etc. The big dots seem like a great choice for a self-defense gun. Which this gun is. Quick site aligment etc. Im not worried about driving tacks at 100 yrds. I havent read anywhere about how bright or easy to see they are in low light. As before keep the suggestions coming.

Today I received a trijicon front sight for my 642-P and it's really impressive. A small upgrade that won't mean much in a panic shoot out, although for target training and range use, it's a clear improvement.
Regards,

IME they are studier, offer a color difference between the front and the rear sight and the dot is small enough to not interfere with distance and accuracy work while still being big enough to "pick up" quickly. I have a Yellow Rear / Green Front combo on my off duty gun and a green/green on my 1911. The green/green came with the gun. When it gets time to replace them I'll go yellow/green. My preferred shotgun also has green/green, as that was the only choice I could find. I would prefer yellow/green their too. When I was talking about distance I was shooting out to 50 Yards yesterday with my handgun. My shotgun is good out to 100 Yards with slugs easily with the Trijicons. The smaller dot is fast enough for my eyes to "pick up" but is small enough to not get in the way of finer accuracy. That's why I like them. One of my friends, who is a certified armorer for a government agency also prefers Trijicons. He has found them to hold up better than Meps on agency guns. Biker

TFO - green/yellowHave them on my G26 - like them better than the factory night sights on my other guns.

You have to check what's available for your specific gun. I'm just getting used to covering the target (shooting what I can't see). It's the price of using BD.

Heinie Straight 8 or a simple tritium front with plain black rear. At night use the front sight press method. Put the glowing dot on the bad guy and press the trigger.
