I love my 340PD and it's easy to take everywhere. I HAD to do the .357 thing just to say I've done it. "Snappy" would be an understatement, but it was OK. Double taps are not happening with any accuracy. Also, the flame burst with the .357 at night would kill any night vision you had.
I carry Gold Dot .38's and with the CT grips and am very happy with the setup. Great accuracy in a great package. |

Where have you been?
You guys act like it is a new gun. These came out in 2001. Now if gun companies started making more firarms with titanium slides we could see some real lightweight automatics too. But for now the 340 and 360 Smith have the most power to weight than ANY consumer firearm. A close second is the 329PD in .44 mag. If you don't like shooting them then go cry to your mommy and let me have it. Uvaldi. PS. Buffalo Bore 125gr Full-power loads are the fastest rounds out there for this gun.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on one, but after I did I went back to a Model 60 with the added weight. Nothing wrong with a 340 or 360, just a little to light for me.
I really like that holster Thumper!!

Just bought a 329PD. Without shooting it, it's been sent off to Mag-Na-Port. Where all my big bore revolvers go! Should be a good winter gun. Personally, I'm no good with the snubbies.

I have a 340M&P that is a hoot to shoot .357's in but after about four cylinders of 130gr. hydrashoks I'm done, this is with the factory boot grips that leave the back strap exposed. These ARE NOT low recoil (shame on them for putting this on box) I may be mistaken but these to me,seem like full power .357's. Can anyone here confirm this theory?
Now with other .357 loads like the Winchester 110gr. personal protection ammo from walmart and Remington golden sabers it a lot better. If I put my pachmayr compac grips on it I can do a couple of boxes of the federal ammo no problem. But these grip hinder pocket carry big time. That all being said I love this gun and can hit center of mass on a man sized target at 7 yards with the federal .357 hydrashoks and keep them on target, this to me is more then acceptable for this type of gun given its intended purpose. Keep in mind these are not range/target guns. They are shoot enough to stay proficient with and carry a lot guns. My 340 M&P is excellent at what it was designed for, putting a very powerful and small gun in my pocket.

+1 to Shame on Federal.
I bought the "low recoil" 357's too. They are full power, no question. My PD, after much experimenting, is loaded with Buffalo Bore 125 +P's. At the range I might have to use the gun for defense (8 feet or closer, in my opinion), I feel very good about this load and it gives me the ability for much faster follow up shots than with any 357 I tried. A close second choice would be the Corbon DPX +P's. The grips I use are the old Safariland composites with finger grooves cut to just below the frame by the gunsmith at King's Gun Works in Glendale, CA. |

I too have a 340M&P and load it with the 110 gr Winchester. The recoil isn't bad at all with the 110gr, recoil gets a little more interesting with 125gr to 135gr rounds, and it gets down right nasty with 158gr or higher. I can honestly say though, that this is a great gun and it goes with me almost everywhere. It's easy to conceal, simple to use, and packs a punch.

I am sure those are nice pieces....I have not had the opportunity to try one.....but from what I observe, I think I will leave the .357's to my K frame size revolvers.

Havn't read all the responses but the only thing I will shoot in an air weight is .38 special rounds. Seen too many photos of airweights and ultra lites that blew up shooting anything else. Make mine all steel.

I ran a few .357 rounds through mine. It's a pocket cannon for sure. 38+P is what I normally shoot. Here a pic of mine with a Tagua holster.
