So since we are putting pieces of the glock puzzle together. The glock that just blew up in my co-workers hand was a 40. it makes me think that there might be some truth to the caliber.

Here's a thread on GlockTalk, showing the chamber support on a brand new .40 G27 barrel vs. an older barrel.

Looks like the last one is a Springfield following a SIG and H&K. Anyone who shoots a lot will likely encounter some issue down the road whether it be reloads or factory ammo, with a Glock, 1911, or whatever. Now......everybody run out and sell all of your guns before you hurt yourself. Better yet......just quit buying ammo. The shooting sports have risks the same as a lot of other sporting activities. Who likes rodeo or PBR? Anyone here skydive? Know the statistics of you being in an automobile accident tomorrow? Ever been struck by lightning? Won the lottery?
Well said

Not with a ruptured case. As the mouth of the case is the only part that expands to the full chamber width and helps seal the case and barrel then it doesn't matter at all if the round has an extra bit of steel around it because the gas is still back-blasting into the non-firing areas of the weapon.
Also, you should realize that the "supported" and "unsupported" is typically lengths of less than 1/8" difference so it's not like half of the case is just hanging in mid-air as a Glock discharges vs 100% of the case being surrounded by steel in other weapons.

The second kaboom was with Remington factory ammo in the green and white box. The second was worse than the first in that the firearm essentially came apart with the second while the first only blew out the magazine.

After the second kaboom I was done. No more Glocks for me. I shoot reloads all the time now in my SIG 229 with nary a problem. The "Glocksters" can rave about theirs all they want. Glocks may be fine for them, but no one will ever convince me.
Sounds like a classic example of a factory double-charged round. Sorry this fairly rare event keeps you from enjoying the excellent quality and reasonable pricing of Glock firearms.

Make sure the ammo you buy is suitable for your gun. Do not use reloaded ammo.

I use only Magtech 230 gr FMC .45 acp ammo at the range. My defensive carry ammo is Federal Hydrashock JHP 230 gr .45 ACP.

My picture isn't as good as the ones above, but I have a Glock 22, recent manufacture, and my chamber is almost fully supported. I think Glock has made some changes.

If you think of the many thousands of Glocks and the millions of rounds fired through them yearly, it's a no brainer . Math happens.
