Creaking Leather

Is there a way to get rid of the creaking sound you get from a new leather holster?
I've been wearing it around the house to try to break it in but it creaks a lot when I move around.

Yep... The squeaking leather is just friction between it and your belt or it and the gun.....so, put a little baby powder on the contact points and it will reduce the noise alot.
Some people try a topical wax and Im always leary about that...nothing that soaks into the leather should be used on nice leather holsters.
NEVER use anything with an oil base or silicone. Just say NO!
Hope this helps..........Shoot well and god bless

Thanks, the baby powder did help.
When I got my holster I used Armour all leather cleaner on it and whiped it down with a silicone cloth. I thought that would make it more slick but I see now it did more harm then good.

Yep...never use either of those! The baby powder will help but is not good for long time periods..so add more when it needs it.
The holster will quiet down with use and wear....shouldnt take long.
Shoot well and god bless

Rubbing a hard glycerine bar or even candle wax at the contact points will work as well, and be a little more permenant than baby powder. The only time you won't be able to correct the squeak is if it's a flaw during construction. If two pieces of leather weren't properly bonded before being sewn they can rub together and creak with movement.

Excellent advice....Ive heard of using all sorts of wax or even thick pastes...but really dont recommend any of it, as you never know what people will do. Bar soap is safe enough....now do you recommend Zest or Dial?
Shoot well and god bless

Eric, I will try the baby powder as soon as I can get to Wally World to pick some up. The waxes and things are a no-no. Thank You for the tip. How is that for using advice given to someone else?

WD40 and Duct Tape are the only two tools a man needs. If it is suppose to move and does not use the WD40. If it moves and it is not suppose to use the duct tape. Seriously; the solvents in WD40 are such that I do not think that I would want to use it on expensive gun leather.

Nope, just Fiebing's 100% pure gylcerin bar.
