Ohio Car Carry Holster

Anybody from Ohio come up with a perfect holster/method for carrying a gun in the car, I would be interested in what you have chosen. Something quick and simple but still comply with the law.

For those who are saying, "HUH?" in Ohio we have to holster our weapons In Plain Sight while in the car, them magically conceal them the second we get out of the vehicle

Ohio

I have 2 of these for general carry. They work great for plain sight here in Ohio.

Watch the video to see how it works.
Great craftsmanship, good people.

P.S. I live 7 miles from Nerk

Actually a general cross draw holster would be perfect.....or I guess I shouldnt say that.....your typical 3 slot pancake, would work though.
The design allows CD for driving and then strong side carry for when you arent and need to conceal the gun.
Shoot well and god bless

No one has really defined plain site enough in Ohio. You guys have got to get on your state represenatives tails and get legislation passed to ammend this silly stuff.

If you are set up for cross draw what if the officer approaches from the passenger side. He can't clearly see your holstered pistol. You might find yourself being one of the test cases for the Ohio Supreme Court.........Just my .02.

BTW-I travel to Ohio frequently so I am very interested in this topic. I feel that the only way to really carry without legal entanglements is to keep it locked in the glovebox and then reholster once you leave the car. Once again get on your local reps butts and get this amended so we can carry anyway we want!

How about a Fobus Roto-Holster?

I really like that arm extension, however.

Car Carry

Doc,

Most Leos seem pretty good about plain sight. If you make a reasonable effort to keep it visible you shouldn't have any problems.
I've carried in Ohio for over 2 years and have survived.

I usually carry a 3" 1911 in a C-T.A.C. IWB and all the LEOs I have had contact with felt that was OK.

Take it out of the glove compartment and join our little experiment. LOL

"plain sight" has been defined for reasonable cause searches. I've left OH, but while there, I figured if I made a good attempt and at least met the standard that would be applied in a court for a car search. I'd be OK. In practice, each officer I spoke with in and around Bowling Green was cool with my IWB and shirt tucked behind.

I wear an IWB holster at about 3:00, and "buckeye tuck" my shirt behind the holster when I'm in the car. Got a speeding ticket like that, notified the officer, no problem. I also asked my instructors in my last training class--One was the chief of Police in Mechanicsburg, the other was from a state LEO agency (Don't remember which one, not Highway Patrol) and both said it should be OK.

Well it was the Highway Patrol that raised the biggest stink about it. "Should be ok" and "Is ok" is a huge difference in my mind. Plain sight needs to be overturned!
