Galco SOB rig for a 1911?
I was wondering if anyone here has carried a fullsize 1911 in one of these rigs? If so was it comfortable and did it conceal well? I use to have a Glock 17 that I carried in this rig but never a 1911 and I'am guessing that due to the 1911's thinner grip it should hide just as well if not better. the only differance of course being the 1911's weight. thanks for any advice guys.

I had a Horseshoe leather SOB - beautifully made and actually quite viable - but just never used it so it went.
Some worry about injury to the back with these - I have come to think more and more that that is not a real biggie, in particular if the rig worn, as I found best, actually as a 5 o'clock position and so no major amount of gun over spine. Draw requires good technique and main hassle for me the effects when sitting - just not too comfortable. I have a pic somewhere of the thing being worn - will add if I find - I expect the Galco is in similar vein. ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ahh - not that one worn - in fact a Hinoon I have for my SW99 - which I'd wear similar to in pic - not dead center. Second pic is the draw approach. ![]() ![]()

Sitting, with a chair back seems to be the biggest problem. second , for some SOB does not conceal as well as other positions.

I have a SOB that I sometimes use with the little WartHawg. I only really find it uncomrtable while driving, I always have to unholster it then. And as Chris mentioned, I find that if placed somewhere between 4:00 and 5:00 works best for me, and easy to get to. I don't use it often, got it mostly to see how I would like it. Not too bad, but I have IWB holsters that I like better, and that's what I use the most.

Well I dont sing the praises of SOB carry....by anymeans. And from the hundreds of responses Ive heard from the guys Ive dealt with over the years...the odds of you wearing one that you find and get...arent that great. But there are a select few that do wear them.....
Ive got a couple of dozen or so beat cops that just swear by them....here's what I make....and its a direct copy of Andy's stuff @ horseshoe....with his blessing of course :D:D ![]() Shoot well and god bless

The little WartHawg is not too bad, but I don't think I'd care for a full sized pistol carried that way. Maybe a small revolver would be alright carried that way.
