Modified Fobus Holster for FNP-9
First, I still love Greg's holster and anybody owning an FNP should get one from him. I know I hope to use mine for a long time.
I shoot IDPA and a question was raised about the forward cant not being quite legal for IDPA. With that in mind, I went to Lou's Gunshop in Hialeah and got them to search the whole store for a cheap plastic or kydex holster I could modify with a heat gun. It turns out to be that the best fitting holster is the one for the HK USP compact 9. Mind you it is a tiiiiight fit. If you were to draw fast from it you'd give yourself a major wedgie and the gun probably would not come out. I examined for a minute and came up with the solution. So here we go: 1) Obtain a pair of 1/4 threaded posts and rubber grommets like in the pic. ![]() 2) Get your dremmel-type tool or whatever tool you may use and remove the lower rivets of the holster. ![]() 3) Remember it is a Fobus holster, do not try to force it too much open or it might rip off the top rivets. ![]() 4) You will have to make the holes a bit bigger to get the post through and insert the 2 rubber grommets to give it som resiliance. ![]() 5) Insert screws, tighten and enjoy! ![]() IDPA shooters, as you can see, the modification complies with the rule that a holster must be tight enough to hold the weapon upside down. ![]()

Nice job, a couple of suggestions based on the photos.
Get some black Chicago screws, and use the bushings over the post between the screw and the binding post adding tension screws to your Fobus making it more adjustable. Nice solution......

Chicago Screws... I was just gonna spray paint the darn things black BTW Greg, your holster keeps freaking me out. I feel like I am not wearing the darn thing. It was a nasty hot & humid day here and your leather is the way to go. Quote:

I forget that I am wearing them at times and have to remember before I go into my kids school to take off the gun.
