I pay up front. But I always do carefully decide who I can trust to before I place an order. I never spend more than I can afford to lose. But I am a sore loser.... and I have tons of time on my hand to make your life miserable if you chose to screw me so I consider myself to be holding the long end of the stick....
I don't care a whole lot about the wait times. I expect you to be as honest as you can be. And then keep me up to date if things get behind. But once I have decided I want you to do your work for me I have chosen you for a reason thats not likely to change. If your not in the right mind frame or motivated to do your best work then I would rather you told me that and took a little more time. This is not car mechanics. It's art.

I Will Never Pay Up Front Again
I have never had a problem paying up front untill I placed my last holster order.I ordered it off a holster maker I found on this site.I was quoted a 10 week delivery time and 8 months later and I was still waiting for it and tired of hearing all the reasons it was not done.I asked for my money back and I am still waiting to get some of it.What happens if the holster maker gets sick, goes out of buisness, personal problems, etc.?That is why I ordered my next holster from Milt Sparks. They only bill you when it is made.

I voted makes no difference.
That being said, I do have a preference. I would prefer the rig be billed up front as money is sometimes tight. If it's pre paid I don't have to worry about being billed and not having the funds available.

It really does not matter which way the payment is made. Just keep me updated on when I can expect delivery.

If your paying via check or money order most holster makers will want the money up front. By credit card they should not charge the card until the item has shipped. Always check for a money back guaranty without a restocking fee.

I don't buy it if I can't pay cash for it (only exceptions, houses and cars) so paying up front doesn't bother me. I usually plan things that way.

Why should holster makers get paid up front? I want to be charged when the product is shipped. That's the way it's worked with every other vendor I've ever dealt with. Don't see why holster makers are different.

Unfortunately, it's usually not the way I want it. I would prefer to make a 10=10% deposit, with payment after delivery. Usually though, I've had to pay up front. I just received my Max-Con V IWB holster from Gary Brommeland. I had to pay the $120 at the time of ordering. It wouldn't bother me so much, but when I ordered, there was a 4 month wait time for the holster. Then, Gary hurt his back, and it was shipped 3 weeks late. I dislike tying up that much money for so long, especially when I'm dealing with a small business. You never know when the business is going to go belly up, and leave you without the holster, or the money. Fortunately, Gary is a reputable person, who makes a quality product, so in his case, there was very little likelihood of that happening. And I'm VERY happy with the holster. But it does bother me to have my money tied up for such a long period of time. I doubt that things are likely to change, so if you want a quality custom holster, regardless of the company, you'll most likely pay up front.
