rough-side out or smooth side out for IWB holster?
Hi all,
I just got my first CCW license and my first gun dedicated to CCW... a Sig P239 in 9mm, DA/SA. When considering an IWB holster, what are the pros and cons of rough-side out and smooth-side out? Why would I want to choose one over the other? Thanks a lot. Chris |

Rough in or out
My 2 cents. I like my Andrews Mc D II with the rough side out. It helps it stay in place, along with the tight fitting belt loop. Having the smooth side in against the gun, also helps make for a smooth easy draw. I'm finding I prefer the smooth lined holsters.
All my future holsters will be made this way. |

Smooth side out....much easier to put on and off and let's you adjust the rig in your pants if need be (like driving).

This is one of those personal preference things, as you can see from two of the above posts. this is why i offer my In-Cognito IWB in the standard smooth-side out version, and the Deluxe version with smooth lining (still smooth-side out so to speak) and with the suede backing on the rear. Some guys like the rig to grip their clothing and lock it place (rough-out or suede-backed) others like the ability to shift and adjust a smooth-side out rig.
