Totters were designed by Blackie Collins the knife maker, If you read the add the pocket is a 'universall' pocket, they were first designed to carry knives so they wouldn't get lost in some other pocket.
Blackie liked to carry his commander in the pocket so they used that in the adds. One could carry a sizable folder or even a small fixed blade. Yo me they are to expensive.

I prefer Carhart jeans that have tool pockets on the side of the leg. Pretty much all I wear anymore.

Nobody mentioned that they are also quite ugly!

I'll second that. I keep a one-hand opener on the right leg, flashlight on the left, and keep my CCW in a IWB where it belongs. That's about all I wear anymore too. Funny thing is that's how I go to work too even though it's supposed to be business casual and/or business attire. Still not quite sure how I get away with it, but I'm getting way off topic now...

They remind me of "the answer to the question that nobody asked."

The pocket holster I use for my P3AT allows for a full grip while still fully concealed.

I have 4 pair of the 5.11 cargo pants ($40/pair at last purchase), and would like to get a pair of their jeans. The pockets are large and plentiful. The waistband has the elastic sections to allow for extra room an IWB holster. And I like the narrow pocket which holds an extra mag for my 1911 just perfectly.
I guess I'm cheap and easy to please. I buy the 12.00 dickies from atwoods and they are by far the best built and fitting jeans I have ever had.
