CCW in a boot
How would you securely carry a CCW in your (western) boot? A Glock 27, Kahr PM9, Kel-Tec P3AT or a 3" 1911.
How about www.clipdraw.com ? -or- an IWB holster positioned so your strong hand could get to it easily. Any opinions would be appreciated. ======== "When the road looks rough ahead, remember the Man Upstairs and the word Hope. Hang onto both and tough it out." -John Wayne |

good question... I'd be interested in seeing holster for such.
I have a couple of NAA .22 mag.revolvers that I can make work, but I don't know for anything bigger. Maybe kinda tough on a fast retrieval...

If you have to run or anything, thats prolly not gonna be very secure, I would try to find some sort of ankle holster that fits under the boot depending on how wide they are at the top. keep in mind anything attached to the top of the boot will weigh it down to the outdie soem, despite ur jeans leg bein there, and will prolly print kinda bad. If you can get a good ankle holster to fit I would go with that, although I am very interest to see if anyone else has any better suggestions.

I've thought about this for a while and as far as a BUG goes I really don't want to put too much weight on the boot and I definitely don't want it to print through so I'm interested to see what other options are out there. A good ankle holster just might do the job while wearing work boots but as far as a boot that's a little more narrow at the top (traditional dress boot) well it just might be a bit more snug. A Kel-Tec P3AT would be a descent fit but something bigger than that might not be too realistic an option.

Yeah, I've got my dressier Justins on right now, and there wouldnt really be room for an ankle holster. Although even with like a clipdraw if u found a way not have it pull the boot out the weapon would be right up against your calf, and that would prolly not be good for either the pistol or your calf. Usually with pistols that size as a BUG, the best route is just a pocket holster.

I would think you could get them special made with a holster or you could make a holster slot with them. If I were to do it though, I would only carry my derringer or a knife in my boot.

I agree with you a pocket holster (I prefer back) would probably be the best route for me to take with a Kel-Tec P3AT. I carry my money clip, with an ID and such in my front pocket so carrying in my back pocket wouldn't look out of place. It would look just like a regular wallet. |

In the best of interests, I would think that the holster slot be made on the outside of the boot leather, and you couldn't /shouldn't wear tight cuffed jeans, just regular cut...
