Desantis who are they?

Ok, a lil background.
I just won a Desantis holster for my 45 on ebay.
26 bucks didn't seem like i could pass it up.

So who is Desantis?
Are they like a Don Hume?
A mass producer of custom holsters?
Or a custom maker like some of our esteemed members?

I know I have read a lot about people using a Desantis products.

Desantis is a bigger company. Not custom by any means. Never tried any of their leather.

I only have one of their holsters; the Insider for a second gen. S&W that I rarely carry. I also have a double pouch mag carrier that I like a lot, and a dress gunbelt that is good quality and has held up well.

DeSantis has been around for quite a while, they have good service, but my experience is they specialize more in the "price" area for holsters than custom/quality.

But you never know, you might really like it.

I've found a particular model of their holster to be excellent - a high-ride, open-top OWB. And their price is good.

Got the first one for my SW99c -then I got them for my Sig 239 and Springfield XDsc.

They don't make custom holsters, but their model-specific holsters are quite good.

DeSantis has some good stuff, lightweight and fits what I bought it for. I have 4 pieces of their holstery. I also have Kramer, FIST, Strong, Don Hume and some Gould & Goodrich.

They are a mass producer but of a higher quality, in my opinion, than Uncle Mikes. You can get a cheapon nylon clip on IWB up to a nice, but not "custom" leather rig. They try to cater to the whole market. Look them up on the web, they have a site but I haven't been there for some time.

My duty equipment includes two DeSantis mag and a handcuffs pouches. I also have an open top holster for my SIGARMS sig pro SP2340. Very nice holster. All-in-all, their leather isn't bad at all. Very utilitarian...but it works well.

I met Gene DeSantis at SHOT Show....very personable gentleman.

DeSantis makes very high quality for mass produced to the point I put them on the same level as Galco with different styles. Very popular in the NY area and they hold several contracts with the govt for supplying agents holsters. I have several and have no issue with any of their products.
