I've been considering the chest rig myself. My only concern that it will constrict your breathing. If you're doing mellow rides around the park, no big deal. My typical ride is on very technical single track 15-20 miles and up to 4K elevation gain.

Hmmm good point on the constriction of the chest....

In regards to the fanny pack.... I just can't see running with one.

But I'm having a problem with understanding how one would wear this in civilian clothes and be effective in deploying it at all muchless quickly.
Can someone or the OP please help me out here or maybe show pics of how they themselves wear it under street clothing.

Thanks,

If you're in bike gear, especially if you are wearing a hydration system such as a CamelBak it would blend right in. I have been considering it for some of the more remote (MTB) rides that I do so #1 it would blend in with my CamelBak and #2 not a whole lot of people around to take notice anyway.

Here is a link that might be of interest. Supposedly used by Secret Service when running with the POTUS.

Might Consider a Safe-Carry

I use a Safe-Carry with shorts and T-shirt. I carry at 3 o'clock to 4 o'clock to keep it from slapping. For jogging what I do is put a real thin pair of shorts on then the Safe-Carry then another pair of shorts to keep from being rubbed raw by movement when jogging/running. I really like the Safe Carry. It is simple, versatile, and for me it works. I live in Houston, and I exercise everyday so I use it alot as it is hot and humid most of the year.

I've tried the fanny pack while running. It ends up bouncing around too much. It ends up working its way to the middle and on the down bounce you know what is going to be on the receiving end (OUCH).

You could swing it around to the back, but then if it comes open you won't see it, and it provides access to others.

You could make it REALLY tight so that it doesn't bounce around, but that is uncomfortable.

It may work for riding a bike like you stated, but the original post included jogging if I'm not mistaken.

Just my personal experience.

you pretty much summarized all the downsides of a fanny pack. Also to add to the bike part: when you're mountain biking things flop around just as bad sometimes as when you're running so the fanny pack just can't get "secure" enough.

I can personally state that in my years of running with SECDEFs (more than one) around and with POTUS I have NEVER seen anyone using that rig. I have seen many a Survival Sheaths under our sweatshirts (or very loose t-shirts) and they are relitively easy to draw from (unless your an Enis and tuck in your sweatshirt into your shorts).

If you tighten them just right they ride very comfortably. However you do not have your other additional items with you and are down to what ya got in it. But then again, when running wif da above mention names, the runners are not the gun guys, just da "bullet catchers".

When I go Mt biking use the Wilderness Safepacker. http://thewilderness.com/catalog/pro...products_id=18 Slip it on my Camelback, and I am good to go.
