I would love to learn how to make my own holsters. Leather and Kydex. Where can someone with absolutely no experience at all learn how to do this?
Not a bad looking holster by the way. I like it.

Thanks again everybody!
@jarhead79: Canute, cool. I used to live in Burns Flat! Thanks for the kudos! When i grow up, i want to be a great holster maker just like you (seriously, you make nice stuff!)@MNBurl: Hmmm... i don't even know where to start ;). I still have to learn A LOT of things. I suck at beveling the edges, level the edges, molding the holsters (but i'm getting better at it, though!) and all that stuff ;). But i feel kinda bad about asking the "pro's" and make them give informations to possible competitors... @Sig P239: Just try it. I'd say the basic tools you need aren't more expensive than buying a custom holster. I ordered some leather, thread, awl, a (way too) cheap punch and some stuff... And i also used some tools i already had at home. All together i paid about $80 - so far i made 2 holsters and i still have enough leather to make 2 or 3 more holsters... (of course, when you start to use quality leather, you have to pay more. But the cheap stuff is good enough to get the first experience imho) I had no previous experience in leatherworks. I just saw different holsters here and at other places, thought about how i would make a holster like that, googled around and just tried it. The worst think that could happen is ruining a piece of leather Mike |
