Another homebrewed holster

Well, enough of you guys did it first, so I decided to try my own hand at making a holster. I have never made anything with leather before, so this is not perfect by any means. I looked at a book at a leather hobby shop to figure out how to make a pattern and then just made this one up. Mostly, I had no idea what I was doing, but it was fun.

I call it the Model 177 since I used a piece of scrap that had "177" scratched into it from the tanning place. Here goes:

I don't have any pictures with it on because the dye is still wet.

I did try it on before I dyed it, and I am not very happy with the way the gun sticks out in front.

Tool list:
Stitching awl
#3 Edge beveler
Dremmel tool with tiny drill bit and sanding wheel
Guided grooving tool
Freehand grooving tool
Utility knife
Hollow punch
Stitching wheel thingy

Very Nice 'First Try?'...

Thanks. It took me about 10 hours total. I didn't know that I was supposed to poke holes before stitching until I broke a couple of needles.

Looks good to me. Too much of a cant, or you wanted it to sit deeper?

The cant and position on the belt vertically seems just right. I think the slot pulls the rear of the gun too close to the body while the front sort of sticks out. The next one will have a belt loop position similar to this:

very cool. it may not be perfect (from what you said) but your one step closer to getting there. you may squint one eye then say "hmmmm" and before you know it... the perfect holster!
