fobus was the closest ride i found so far. i have a right handed one for my beretta centurion (because it was given to me) and have tried a few others. unfortunately, they never have the holster i need. they're not very left hand friendly but damn if i don't love the way their holsters fits. i agree with the bladetech comment. too much space.

Newbie here, but take a look at the G-Code holsters from here http://www.gunnersalley.com/product/GCODEBELT. I have a couple of these (for 1911 and Glock 23) and they ride higher than most other paddle holsters I have tried (Fobus, Wild Bill's Concealment, Blackhawk). I like the others, but to me, by riding higher they ride tighter to the body. YMMV.
way to introduce yourself. i checked out the link you gave and already ordered one. had what i wanted and a good price. as far as fit... i guess i'll see.

Paddle Holsters

I bought a Blackhawk Serpa since I posted the original question. The belt attachment is OK, but the paddle attachment didn't pull my 1911 as close to the body as I would have liked. It was a little better than the Blade-Tech, but still not anywhere near as close as my leather belt holsters (Mitch Rosen ARG or Milt Sparks hi-ride OWB).

I actually wanted the paddle primarily for the easy on/off quality, but that doesn't seem too good, either. Both of the kydex paddles had hooks that pretty much required I remove my belt to get them off. I have a leather Don Hume paddle for my J-frame S&W, and it has given me very few problems.

Fortunately, the Blackhawk Serpa seems to be a good holster with the belt attachment, although not that great for concealment. I like the retention feature. I can use it for open carry around the house and yard (I live in the country).

I use a Fobus paddle holster for my GLOCK. I like it a lot. It's more comfortable, for me, than inside-the-waistband carry. I don't have experience with Bladetech's products. Fobus is very very affordable (<$25). The retention is good, right about how I like it. My holster does not have locks for retention -- it's just friction release.

I don't know if there are paddle holsters that ride tight up to the body, though. The ones I've seen seem to put some distance, which I would have thought is necessary, after all. How much do you want the gun to rub up against you? I understand that the closer it rides, the easier it is to manage concealment, but there's a tradeoff, like with anything. When I use my Fobus, I usually have a t-shirt and an overshirt, unbuttoned. I tent both shirts over the gun on my 3 o'clock. There is potential for it to print, but you have to get used to not making certain kinds of movements if you don't want the printing spotted.

You might want to look at the Eagle Industries G-Code Paddle.

I heard they pull in a bit tighter than the Fobus but, I've never seen one of their holsters in real life though.
They look decently well designed. Not sure if they break off as easily as some other paddle designs. I'm not real big on paddle holsters.

Well, here is the link CLICK HERE.

Tried Bianchi, Uncle M, and Fobus but Don Hume's seem the best ride for what I carry concealed, my body shape and choices in how I dress.

Currently using Don Hume paddles (H720-OT) with a G19 and a 2in 38spl. I have carried both G19 and a Commander-size 1911 in Kydex type holsters for work, wearing under foul weather gear.

Key point raised earlier - a good belt is an absolute requirement whether a paddle or a belt holster.

i just got a G-code paddle holster today. it's a good holster but there is something about the design of a fobus that just brings it so close to the body. too bad they're limited on gun designs and hand preferences.
