Which style holds closer to the body?

In looking for a simple OWB carry holster, which style holds the weapon tighter to the body, the 2 belt loop (one on each side of weapon) or the JIT style (one slit outside, one in back of weapon)? This will be for a small sized semi-auto.

Examples.......

The two belt loop pancake. The Askins style tends to let the butt rotate out from the body.

It is also better for me to use a low ride holster where the muzzle clears the holster at the top of the belt. High ride holsters might conceal better unless the cover garment is longer, but your shoulder has to lift higher.

Best,
Jerry

Agreed! My Eagle Defender from K&D holds in tight as any IWB I reckon. The only difference is the exposed holster below belt which for me is a cinch to conceal.

These rigs can when new be pretty tight but once broken in are so comfortable, as well as doing a great job holding the piece.

OWB style closest to body

Of the two OWB holster types you mentioned, the pancake and the Askins Avenger, I would agree with other posters that the pancake holds the gun closer to the body. Having two belt loops, one on either side of the gun, seems to pull things tighter.

But I would say that the tightest fitting OWB holster is one in which the belt goes over the gun and holster. The force of the belt, as it is tightened, pulls the gun into the side very firmly, much like the steel hoops on a barrel hold the wooden slats tight against each other. Several makers produce a holster like this, such as the Mitch Rosen "Thinman" shown below:

My KD Defender rides close and, as it's had relatively little use, it is still tight as could stand a bit more break in.
