Position for IWB?

I have finally found a comfortable IWB holster for my compact 1911 (comp-tac c-tac). I am struggling with where to put it on my person that carries the best.

I tend to find that I like the holster at 1 or 2 o'clock (figuring my belly button is 12 o'clock) for the least print/ most comfortable.

Where do you carry? Thanks.

Most folks seem to find 4.30 is a ''sweet'' spot - being behind ribs a bit but in front of kidney area.

Much tho depends on a person's build IMO - plus of course concealment aspects. Up front as you mention can be viable but exposure is gonna be easier with wind etc but maybe printing easier to control. 4.30 area can print more if one bends carelessly.

Bottom line methinks - experiment for your own preference as to what works.

For me, the close it is to about 3:15, the better. Further forward is uncomfortable. Further back, the grip starts to print badly.

Honestly comfort of carry will depend on physical build . I am most comfortable when i carry so that the muzzle of the firearm is in the pocket made by my butt cheek when standing . Different firearms , and different cants makes placement on the waistband a variable . for longer barreled handguns i tend to prefer more rake , for shorter i tend to prefer a straight drop , 1911s work out as far foreward as 3:30 on the clock , my kahrs work out as 4 to 5 and with less cant . In any event they all ( iwb ) rest in that hollow that all males are equipped with to one degree or another .

I carry at 4:00 position with my cell phone clipped just in front of the holster clip. That helps to conceal the holster.

Comp-Tac CTAC with a Glock 26. At about 3:30. I have sense started carrying it a little bit further back. Mor like 4:00 to 4:30.

BTW it is canted forward 25 degrees or as far as the holster lets you.

3 O'clock for me. If I try to put it farther behind that, its uncomfortable for me.
