I use 1.5 inch belts as that is a good compromise, IMO, between being too wide and supporting the holster/gun. Works for me, YMMV.
Edited to add that I do have a 1.25 inch belt from Hume that I use for my SP-101 sometimes.

I found my Colt carries more comfortably with a 1.75" 5-stitch Wilderness Belt than it did with a 1.5" leather gunbelt. With the Wilderness belt I've forgotten it's there. A big part of that is the infinite adjustability of the Wilderness Belt.

It depends on what I'm wearing.
Jeans, Cargo Shorts and Dockers all get the 11/2" Belt. In my suits I wear a 11/4" Dress Belt that is really a Gunbelt. I showed one of my Dress Belts to a salesman at Men's Warehouse and he said, "That's a really nice belt. You must think our belts feel like paper to you." I smiled and said, "Yup". I don't think I've ever worn a 13/4" Belt. It just wouldn't look right to me. With the 11/2" I can wear my Trophey Buckles or a regular buckle. The 11/4" Dress Belt is the proper size for a suit. Once you go to a dedicated Gunbelt you will feel the difference and probably never go back to an "El Cheapo" belt from Target. Biker ![]() |

I guess I didn't answer the question. I usually wear a 1.5" belt for most pants.
I use a 1.25" belt for suits & nice dress slacks. I've been using a 1.5" Liger belt in black with blacked out buckle. It has worked great, because it's thin like a normal belt, but there's absolutely no roll or play I'm wearing a gun. I guess I need to look for a 1.25" belt, but I just pocket carry my S&W 442 or Kahr PM9 when I'm wearing suits.

My preference is 1-1/2". I spend most of my time nowadays in Wranglers and that width just seems to suit. The dual-layers with at least one row of stitching are my preference. Stretch is minimized and they tend to maintain their life.

1.5" here. It's thin enough to pass for a basic belt, but think enough (if well-made, double-thickness) to hold the largest and heaviest of concealable pistols. Of course, a 50oz revolver's going to put a strain on that, but anything 40oz (a full-sized 1911 gov't model) or smaller does just fine. Currently, I've got a Kramer double-width 1.5" horsehide belt on. Very well-made.

Ones that work for me are the 1.5" belts. 1.75" are just to big for 75% of my pants I wear.
