| Defensive Carry Holsters & Carry Options There are some really good defensive carry holster designs, as well as some very bad ones on the market today. Whether you are in the market for a new holster or just discovered another perfect carry option, let us know about it here. |

Wife is Willing
to try concealed carry that is; what'd you think I meant?
*No holsters for her.* So, we've seen many fanny packs and purses online, but the pics are terrible and there's no way to determine quality. Price - nor name - is a measure of quality in my way of thinking. What products (that you've actually seen/used) would you purchase again, if you were in the market. Perhaps even a day planner type thing. Nothing over several hundred $ unless it is REALLY something special. Oops, almost forgot, it'll be holding a Bersa Thunder 380 and a spare "clip". (The clip barb is just to stir up some trouble). And the usual womans junk in the purse option. Thanks all, Wrascal |

Whatever you end up with, IMnsHO it NEEDS to have a separate partition / compartment for the gun. you do
NOT want anything else coming in contact with the gun or magazine in the purse. you COULD meet this requirement in almost any purse by having an insert made but I haven't seen any of those out there. Maybe one of the custom leather guys here would be willing to try it out?

You know what would be helpful ...
It would be cool to have a sub-list in the holster sticky ... places that make carry purses, fanny packs, "options for women" or something. I think Mitch Rosen makes a really great lookin' purse but whadda I know?
The issue of purse carry can really bring about some sharp debate ... but it's interesting to note that there are men who have those raggedly lookin' "man purse" things and carry in them. Also, I personally know of a woman who carries a Taurus in her purse who thwarted an attack in a parking garage downtown by reaching into her purse and gripping her revo (didn't pull it out). I've changed my mind on holsters a zillion times. I have over two dozen holsters layin' around, about 5 that are used frequently for daily carry. If SHE carries, she's going to end up doing the same thing ... maybe a purse, AND a fanny pack, AND a Mitch Rosen Nancy Special, AND [ad infinitum]. So that's why a whole bunch of links for women's options would be great. YO plblark! Fancy seein' you here :) |

If your wife hasn't been to Cornered Cat yet, I would highly recommend she read the entire site.
Check http://www.corneredcat.com/Holster/purse.aspx for a short discussion of carrying in purses, and http://www.corneredcat.com/Misc/links.aspx for a list of links to various manufacturers. |

Don't purse carry. Its too easy to snatch away. Fanny packs are much better. Atleast they are attached to your person.
I just dont think you can beat holster carry for safety. |

Are there no ladies here?
Guys, our opinions don't carry much weight, even if they are good ideas. I know/agree with most comments, but the options are purse, fanny pack, and/or day planner. Or don't carry. Most likely all three - at one time or another. |

I'm a lady.
No time for a real response, though -- and someone else already posted the links I'd point you to. pax

I love a wife that is willing.
I have carried in a briefcase before, much like a woman doing purse carry. I do not recommend off-body carry unless that is the ONLY option. Take a look at Kramer or Mitch Rosen, they both make holsters designed for women. There are some differences in anatomy that make it important to have a comfortable holster that fits the body of the pistol packer. Biker ![]() |
