Belts .. more questions from me
I was checking into the ones from Gunnersalley.com I like the Wilderness belts and the ones made for GA's name. Has anyone used these with great success and how well did they hold up? Next question is this .. does the width size matter? I see 1.5", 1.75" etc. Does the size belt I get determine what holster I can get or do most holster manufacturers make them to fit all size belts?

I got my Wilderness Instructor's belt from Gary Brommeland and I've been really impressed with the quality of construction and level of support it offers - and the range of adjustability is really helpful as well.
As far as the width to order - yes, it matters. I believe Galco uses 1.75" slots on their holsters (not sure about loop sizes), most custom holstermakers I'm aware of use 1.5" belt slots and loops as standard but many will be willing to adjust the loop size of your order on request. A holster with 1.75" slots/loops worn on a 1.5" belt will work but it won't be as stable as it should be and it'll be more prone to slide and flop around. A 1.75" belt simply won't fit through 1.5" slots/loops. Also, a 1.75" belt might work fine with jeans but be too wide to fit through the loops of other, less casual pants. I always try to buy my belts and holsters from the same maker when possible as they'll be built to work together. In general, I prefer 1.5" belts and holsters for jeans and either a 1.25" or pocket carry for less casual wear. Jack

A good GUN belt is just as important as a good holster. Don't buy a cheap flimsy department store belt and expect good or even "decent" results! It won't happen!

Belt width depends on what pants you'll be wearing. Most common is 1.5" and most holster makers can provide loops or slots to fit the belt width you choose. 1.5 is the most common as it fits most pants and provides good stability and support for the holster & gun.
The Wilderness belts are highly regarded by those that use them. They work well, but do have a tactical appearance. I would not recommend one for everyday carry unless you dress like a range master or shooting instructor all the time. But, it all depends on what you wear, how you carry etc. If it suits your style, great. I've got several leather gun belts in various colors and also a Wilderness belt. I use the Wilderness belt with jeans for knocking around or at the range. It is also a good choice with the kydex holsters. |

The Wilderness 1.5 is a great belt. A buddy had one, and would not stop talking about it. At first I was not so sure but once I got it. Wow!

The 1.5 inch Wilderness belt holds up my EDC (and my pants). It's a great belt that keeps everything really stable.

I think the Wilderness will work for me. I usually wear jeans anyway, I have no dress or casual pants. Unless Dickies or Dockers are considered casual, whenever I can afford to get some.
