Question on "V-clips" with IWB tuckables

I have been doing my homework on all different types of carry to try to decied what will work best for me. I have seen the v-clips on some of the makers sites and wonder what your experience has been with these. I understand that I would need to buy a belt with velcro sewn in for best results.

To clarify: I am wondering if these hold to the holster in place well and function as well as regular clips.

I thank all of you for such a great site with so much good information.

Vaya con Dios,

Larrupin'

That's what I read when I was looking at belts from Beltman. It adds $10 to the price of the belt.

Well, I'll chime in as a maker and hopefully some customers will add some feedback. Be it IWB or tuckable carry, the velcro clip option is about as discreet and unobtrusive as you can get. Not only is there nothing showing on the outside of the belt, but there is also less bulge due to no wrap-around strap or snap-button. The velcro lining does add some thickness to the belt, but there is nothing external on the belt to show or print.
Now the down-side for some: they absolutely lock the holster in place. While this may not seem like a negative, some folks like to be able to shift or adjust their holster when they sit, or just generally re-arrange it a little throughout the day. This is pretty much impossible with a velcro-attached rig. Once you put it on, it stays put in that spot until you completely take it off and re-arrange it. There is no sliding it 1/4 inch forward or back.

Agreed Mark,

I had a talk with Jim at "The Belt Man" when I ordered my belt. He mentioned the very same thing that Mark did in his post.

I have talked with people that like the V Clips, but I decided that they weren't for me.

IMHO

excellent points

That is exactly the type of info I am looking for: Real World!
I like the idea of nothing showing but being inexperienced hadn't really thougt about the need to shift the holster around due to sitting etc.

Thanks.

I tried carrying tuckable IWB with a Comp-Tac C-T.A.C. holster for my Glock 36, which is a relatively light .45. I didn't care for it. To set it up & get comfortable, you have to pull it free, move it, then keep doing that until you get it to where yo want. & you have to do that each time you put it on, although after a while you'll set it up close & not have to move it around too much, if at all. But if you take a long drive, & want to shift the holster around, you can't just "scoot" it over just a little.

It does hide incredibley well. I guess it depends on what your priorities are. For me, I carry in a tuckable IWB with a single metal clip. Because I use a relatively light gun (Kahr PM9 or a Taurus Mil Pro PT145), I can clip the holster onto my pants. I run the belt over the clip & slide my cell phone over that. No one's the wiser.

Anyways, if you're going to shift it around, it's a pain.

I own a Garrity Triskel, I have both the standard and the V-clips. You, as Mark mentioned above, can not see the clip on the inside of the belt. There is absolutly no concerns with slipping, it holds VERY firm in place on the draw and it stays where you put it.

A little challenging putting it on due to the 'grabbiness of the Velcro but it stays put where you put it.

I highly recommend it if you want dsicreet nearly invisible method of affixing IWB holster to your belt.

Thanks

Since I dress business casual and have to have my shirt tucked in and my G19 well concealed, I use the V-clips with a C-Tac every day. Now that I have found "the spot" to wear it comfortably, I put it there first think in the morning and don't really need to move it. I'm an insurance agent, so I work in an office and am in and out of my car all day. My only concern is it would be pretty slow to draw the weapon in the car.

I use V-clips and love them. They did take a bit of getting settled and used to but since I already knew my "sweet spot" it wasn't that bad.

Comp-Tac sends out 4 short strips of VERY stick velcro lining for your belt in case it's not already lined. I need to get a BeltMan belt soon :-)

+1 Mark

This can be a real hassle. It can take several tries to get the holster in the "just exactly perfect" spot and this requires a LOT of undoing each time. The best method I found was to leave the belt out of the last few loops on my pants, adjust the holster to the right spot, then CAREFULLY loop and lay the BELT (not, holster) over the clips. Even this method can take a few tries. Hassle Factor: 10/10

Once you've found the spot, I found that marking, or lightly scoring the belt to correspond with the ideal location of the clips was invaluable to reducing the over all time required to get everything into place.

As Mark said, once it's there... IT'S THERE!

PS I went back to standard clips.
