Comp-Tech Holsters

I am pretty much a leather guy but wanted to try the Kydex game. I got a cheap Fobus Paddle and really liked the fit and retension of the Kydex but did not like the holster.

I like the Comp-Tech holsters ( http://www.comp-tac.com/index.html ) and while I am not a gadget kind of guy I am thinking of trying the Settable Cant Holster.

My post is not to debate leather vs. kydex but to see if any of you have tried this holster and your thoughts. How about any thoughts on Comp-Tech holsters in general?

Comp-tac makes some great holsters. I use their C-T.A.C. IWB holster for my EDC, and I've got a Settable Cant for the (relatively rare) occasions when I want to go OWB. They're also a great company to order from, with very good customer service.

I'd say that the most carried holster at our IDPA shoots is a Comp-Tac Locking Paddle holster. Everyone swears by them. I personally use Blade Tech but once I get my new 1911 I will likely buy a Comp-Tac based upon all the recomendations I've received from my fellow shooters (which includes a couple of nationally ranked ones).

The settable cant has the option of changing the cant and changing from paddle to belt carry. Does that all work good? Good and solid fit?

I looked hard at Blade Tech but several of their models (the ones I liked) were not available in left handed versions. Other than that they were my first choice.

I've got the paddle attachment, but I've never really used it (like I said, I rarely carry OWB). The settable cant feature works well. The holster is held to the belt clip/paddle by two bolts, with a choice of 8 holes to put them through. Which holes you choose determines the cant.

I have several comp tac holsters and they are very good and the company is great to deal with. I used them for about a year and they work and fit great for my G27.

But then I bought a Brommeland Maxcon V and have never looked back. The leather is so perfectly made and the comfort level cannot be touched.

I have a Max Con VI on order and I hope it is all they say they are. Someday I will get it and find out. LOL Anyway I like to carry open when on the farm and I have need for a good open holster for compition use so I am still in the market for another holster.

I have a Comp-Tac Infidel IWB that makes my full size 1911 vanish under a t-shirt. Very well made, the service is great, and employees are friendly.

Fobus isn't Kydex. It's a different lower priced plastic.
Kydex is a whole other creature. Comp-Tac is great stuff. So is Blade tech ( I own each)
