My J Frame Ankle idea
I was thinking of taking this
![]() and attaching it to a Desantis Apache elastic ankle band or a neoprene band to make what I think would be a pretty darn good ankle holster. What do you think? Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Might work. Depends on how well the band will hold the weight and the curve of the belt slide. also my belt slide serpa seems to hold out further than the paddle attachment.
would be a great security feature for a ankle gun though.

I could remove the belt slide platform and install small grommets to attach it with the supplied hardware.
???

guess you may have to just try it. My 1911 serpa holster is way to big of gun to fit on an ankle. Plus, ankle carry is not for me. Good luck though.
also , you could buy some kydex and form it to fit you ankle, then put some grommets and holes in yourself.

Reminds me to the one Fobus makes which I wore once and threw away. Hurt the heck outta my ankle. I wish you well, but would suggest something that adds a little padding on the back side. However after 14 years using the same Renegade ankle rig for my snubby, I'll stick with what works.

Way back in another life i had a ( then ) top notch rig with sheepskin lining ect.. to carry a J frame on my ankle . I found its a nice theory but lacks some in practice . I do strap a pm9 on that way when no other option presents its self , but only for a couple of hours at most . To me it just is not a practical way to carry any pistol for more than a couple of hours .

The problem I see, is it's going to be too thick. A good ankle holster (& personally, the renegade's the most comfortable), holds the gun snug against the ankle with good padding. If it causes the gun to stick out, the weight from the gun leverages out, causing pain & just becoming a pain.
Good luck with it, though.

I understand that some don't prefer ankle carry. It does work for me and I am comfortable in my speed and proficiency with it. I will also admit that it does have defensive drawbacks. Each to their own.
My gut tells me the Serpa may be too thick. I have a Bulman ankle for my Glock and love it. I will probably get one for my J frame. New Idea....maybe the Serpa on a nice leather Bulman platform??? The Serpa probably would not stick out much more than the molded leather holster. I really like the idea of the Serpa's retention. ?????????????????
