Holster Opinion - Comp-Tac Infidel or Tucker The Answer???

I need some help with a holster decision here for my XD9 Service.

I've narrowed my choices down to the Comp-Tac Infidel and Tucker's The Answer.

I'm looking for pros and cons on each and especially any of you that own both.

I live in Texas, so the summers are pretty hot. I'm also a bigger (read fat) guy.

Thanks in advance.

LJ

I have 3 Tucker Gunleather IWB Tuckable holsters for 3 different size guns and think they are all great. Sorry I can't compare to the Infidel from experience but I don't think you can go wrong with a Tucker.

They're different types of holsters. The Infidel is an all kydex holster. If you're one of the few that can handle kydex for long hours at a time, good for you.

The Tucker, while quite a bit more, is a leather holster in feel to your body, with the advantages of kydex on outside. I'm in the group that likes leather against my body for extended periods of time. Where I live, we have a long duration of warm weather & we'll get a week or two of well over 100 deg. Heck, when I started in LE, I was in the desert. If it got under 110, that was a cool day.

I remember getting in foot pursuit of a guy with a gun. It was 117 outside. He ditched the gun, but when I caught him (He wasn't wearing a shirt), I slam dunked him into the ground (Sand; it's the desert). He looked like one of those coated ice cream bars, he had sweated so much & he was coated that bad. He said to me; "I'm not armed, you didn't have to do that, did ya?" I answered him; "Oh yeah, I did." Boy, did I feel better. But after that run, I sweated in places I didn't know you could sweat. This was in the morning, & I was still sweating at the end of my shift, & I was inside after I caught him. Gotta love the heat.

I've been wearing my Infidel (w/gurka strut) for two days and it conceals extremely well and is very comfortable....the Kydex takes getting used to but it is no worse than leather IMO. I find that wearing an undershirt (tanktop under a t-shirt for me) definitely feels good with either kydex or leather. It's a bit warmer but not really. I'm waiting on a CTAC and want to compare it to the Infidel but overall I say it is a winner.. Either way I think Kydex is going to be my "go to" choice.

I with Whamonkey... I have worn my infidel for two days now, its the best IWB I have. FWIW, I dress the same way he does, it works well for me too.
Today I put it on at 7am, goofed around the house a little, then went grocery shopping. Came home put them all away, and went outside to mow the lawn. I did all this, plus sitting in the car and my big comfy chair to post on CC and had a three year old in tow. Its now almost 6pm here I've had it on for 11 hours. Not once did my G23 bother me or did I wish I left it home.
I'm picky as can be when it comes to gun stuff, and its keeping me happy.

Hi LJ, I have no experience with The Answer holster, but I do own the Infidel. I like it and it is comfortable to wear. The CTAC is also a nice holster.
Here are some pics of my Infidel. It has the Gurkha Strut on it.

Ron

Does the Infidel with that big clip move around very much WITHOUT the Gurkha Strut attached? Does the Gurkha Strut help that much?

The Answer is not comparable to the Ghurka. The corresponding Comp Tac product is the CTAC.

No, not really. It depends on your belt I've noticed in experiments with mine.

I suggest getting the strut anyway, its only a few dollars more. That way you got a choice.

AWESOME pics by the way Ront! Very incredible detail! You must have quite the camera - mine won't take pics like that!

Kinda off topic, but do you like the M&P better than the Glock? Does the slide/barrell sit up higher on the grip than the Glock? I have found that the XD feels the best in the hand of the three, but I don't really like how high up the boreline is. How is the M&P compared to the XD and Glock?
