I haven't tried the Galco rigs but have used both the vertical "X19" (?) and horizontal "Agent" rigs from Bianchi. The elastic harness on the vertical rig just plain sucks. The Agent rig was actually very comfortable with a Beretta 92fs.
I currently have a beauty of a Shoulder rig for a Glock G19 on order with Matt Del Fatti. It's a horizontal rig with dual mag pouch in undyed horsehide (almost cocoa brown color). The wait is long but I knew that when I placed the order so all is well. Everything I've seen of Matt's work convinced me the wait would be well worth it. Jack

LOL, every time I post that one I'm waiting to see who will catch the flower. I was standing in front of a hibiscus and I could not have photoshopped that there any better. I'm at my home away from home at my uncle's place. That's a Sam Andrews rig and it is one of the best strap systems you will find. High and tight with the back strap just tight enough to keep any sway out.

Right now I have a couple of generic nylon $15 shoulder rigs for my Sigs. I hate them. I would love to find a nice horizontal leather one like I had years ago for my old Taurus 92. Of course I have no idea what it was, and it went with the pistol when I sold it. My problem is I am a fairly "large" guy and I am left handed! I have yet to find a dealer that stocks anything but the cheap stuff for us south paws! I have pretty much resigned myself to making my own. I am not about to drop $100+ on a non returnable holster just to find out it doesn't work for me.
The nylon ones I have are crap, but on the motorcycle they are the most comfortable I have right now.Last edited by mcp1810; June 14th, 2007 at 01:03 AM.. Reason: typo |

I use the Galco Vertical shoulder rig to carry a Beretta 90-two during the cooler times of the year when I wear a jacket. Just too hot in the south for anything more than a t-shirt during the warm/hot season. As has been mentioned above (glad, thought it was just me), I adjusted and re-adjusted my holster over the course of a week and finally got it perfect. After wearing the holster for a couple of weeks I ordered the tie-down for the mag side because the weight of the full size Beretta caused the harness to shift towards the gun side while wearing during the course of a day. The tie-down solved the shifting problem and the holster works great for carrying a full size gun. This holster was custom molded for the Beretta and fits like a glove. The leather and craftmanship are top notch.

I was thinking of going with a Safariland ALS shoulder rig when the beretta storm .45 finally comes out. I would like to Carry in a 45 deg angle. This is like they did in the old west shoulder carry(very fast). It would seem to be the best compromise between sweeping everyone around you or having the muzzle being completely pointed down.

I have a Bianchi Ranger that I picked up 20 Years ago when I was in the army. It has nice wide straps and is extremely comfortable. It aint exactly stealthy though! I only use it in the winter when I can keep a heavier jacket on.

I too like Andrews work. Yours is the first Leather Monarch that I have seen. All others have been in the suede. I dont want that. I really, Really, REALLY like the back strap on his work & the wide shoulder straps. If I get a new one that is the one I am going to I am sure. I am really considering putting a back strap on my MC. Get a longer Chicago Screw & just have to measure it right. No mod to the harness would be necessary. I think his is on the inside of the holster though. Doesnt this pull the gun butt to your side when bending over? I like that I think too. You picture is one of the ones I really was hoping to see. Thank you much LT.

longtooth, this rig rides very well. One thing that you will notice with some shoulder rigs is as you wear it the pistol's barrel tends to shift to where it is angled upwards and the butt moves downwards. So for Sam's rig does not do that with me. I adjust the backstrap to just hold things in place as I bend forward. As I'm standing straight there is a little slack in the backstrap, but not enough to flop or get in the way of anything.
