I agree, there's probably more to the request than what little been's given.

Maybe it's the timeframe or price? I doubt it's simply being able to do something custom, or maybe it's all the above. More info would probably get you a better response.

In mocarryguy's defense, he did not ask for anything that probably the majority, if not all, of the holster makers here could provide. I was the one who was struggling with it, and could not get it to work, and I was not going to send him any holsters that I was not satisfied with.

K-Man,

Thanks for being honest and having scruples....yes I said scruples!! So many companies this day and time are about the dollar first and to hell with customer satisfaction. Though I have never had the opportunity to try one of your holsters, I understand they are well made and highly endorsed. One day I might have the opportunity to try one out.

Kevin will not make a holster that he thinks will not be satisfactory to you. That is admirable, and I appreciate his honesty.

We need more with his integrity.

Many holster makers simply do not want to deviate from their standard web-site offered patterns, mainly because it is very time consuming and not very cost effective to create a new one-off design just for one customer. Many are cutting their patterns with a clicker press, a large cookie-cutter die that cuts the specific pattern under pressure; and do not want to get into designing and cutting a single pattern by hand - again for one customer.

While we do use a clicker and dies for the vast majority of our holsters, we will, and often do, deviate from that pattern to make something specific for an individual customer. As Mark said, there are those who will not.

That is easily understandable. That is especially so when one has a fairly large number backorders.

Best,

Quality holster makers don't need any more business!

I would recomend many... Milt Sparks, Mark Garrity, Matt Del Fatti, Tucker and Brommeland just off the top of my bald head!

If it's quality you want, these guys don't do anything else!

I don't have exotic requests or the like. As per my post, Kimber 4", Sig P229 standard and a P229 SAS. The SAS of course could cause issues as it is radiused on all corners, so it is not exactly the same as the P229. Let me put it this way. In the last 3 years, I have averaged about $10,000 a year in firearm purchases and the accessories that go with them. I divulged to Kevin what I make a year. I have already spent about $5000 so far to date this year. If a gun does not shoot the way I want, it is gone. If a scope does not work out, gone. Leather, I am like everyone else, boxes of stuff. Since I go through a lot of guns, I can not wait 2 years for a holster as the gun may no longer exist. Just the nature.
So, the challenge is to find something in a reasonable time frame, quality, and priced for the product I am purchasing. I am sure that Kevin is a craftsman, he gets high ratings from all here. I am sure I would be more than happy with his work. He runs his business as he sees fit, he was up front with me and we are golden. There are no issues there.
I know modern firearms as well as anyone going. I spend a lot of time with them, competing, hunting, long range and the like. Leather, don't know squat, so I rely on you good folks to help me out and I thank you all for your input. If you like business, I can bring you the business, not an issue. Thanks again.
